Foreword
Where in the world was
William Thrasher, Jr. when I was a new pastor starting out in ministry? If someone would have given me or told me about a book called The Seven Pillars for Successful Service, there were a lot of mistakes I did not have to make and there were a lot of nights I could have gone to sleep earlier! Consequently, as a new pastor trying to do it all on my own, I made a lot of mistakes with ministry decisions and spent a lot of sleepless nights because of those decisions! And I assure those of you who are first-time pastors reading this Foreword that you could certainly say AMEN!
In his first printing of his book, Pastor Thrasher gave all first time or new pastors Seven Pillars or building blocks that all pastors must deal with at some point in their ministry. Topics like Church Administration, Christian Education, Parishioner Welfare, Stewardship, Temple Maintenance, Christian Fellowship, and Ministry of Worship gave critical information that would assist any pastor starting out in ministry. Each brief chapter gave pastors information that they could use for the life of their ministry. The book alone was a wealth of knowledge for any pastor or church leadership.
However, Pastor Thrasher was not finished. In the sequel, How to Reach the Masses: Seasoned Pastors Expound on the Seven Pillars, he asked some of his pastor friends to give their personal input and comments on these Seven Pillars, in their own words. As an incredible bonus to this book, Pastor Thrasher has added an eighth pillar on Technology, which exploded in churches across America during the Coronavirus pandemic. Churches who never used technology before were forced to use Facebook, YouTube, or some other type of social media to keep in touch with the members of their congregation. Thank you, Pastor Thrasher, for adding this eighth pillar that new pastors must apply to their ministries, because Technology is here to stay.
If you are a new pastor, make sure that you read and apply this book in your ministry. I assure you it will benefit you for many years to come. If you are not a new pastor, purchase this book and give it to a new pastor. I promise you they will thank you for investing in their life and their ministry.

How to Reach the Masses
Seasoned Pastors Expound on the Seven Pillars
The original book Seven Pillars for Successful Service was born out of my own experience as a first-time pastor who was trying to figure out where to start and what made sense. I knew that fulfilling the great Commission was the ultimate goal, but I was somewhat overwhelmed as to how best to proceed.
I was blessed to have some very good mentors who were willing to give me guidance and provided me with the benefit of their years of experience and wisdom.
