    I

t was chilly, I could feel the wind on my skin as the last star faded in the sky. I wrapped my hands around my body, not from the cold, just a reflex action. I didn’t need it but the action seemed more human somewhat. At least to me. I sat and stared at the sky, a million thoughts flying through my head. It was hard to be different, too hard on most days. It was choking too, especially when everyone else saw things differently. That when I met him, on one of the nights where my thoughts went ahead of me, and turned into something else. That was the first time I was meeting him, a dark skinned boy with eyes that stared into a person’s soul. He wasn’t looking at me per se, he was looking through me. I was there but yet I wasn’t. The blackness of his hair seemed to bring out his eyes, accentuating the intensity to an alarming degree. I couldn’t look away from such a fine specimen before me.

What don’t you trust? I’m Jackie by the way, I said, introducing myself to the intense boy who was staring daggers at TJ. TJ was our
