Theresa Holmes-Lewis is a teacher in the body of Christ. She received Jesus as her Lord and Savior in a small Apostolic Church in October 1979. Upon becoming the wife of a military soldier, she had the opportunity to be in the presence of such great Kingdom leaders as Mark Chironna, Creflo Dollar, Clarence McClendon, Don Mears, Pastors Tony and Cynthia Brazelton, along with many others during her forty-plus-year journey with the Lord. Theresa has four children and four grandchildren. She currently resides in the Washington, DC, area.

Possessing the mindset of a soldier is very important for the success of a believer. Some of the characteristics built into the framework of this mindset are dedication, diligence, strength, endurance, and honor. Operating in all of these qualities helps to present a well-furnished individual fit for operating effectively in the Kingdom of God. Second Timothy 2:3–4 (KJV), Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

A singleness of heart is a true reflection of an earnest desire to serve God and to live according to His purpose. It is an intentionally focused mindset that is motivated by love. This love is demonstrated by an unwavering dedication to our Maker. It is of the utmost importance that we understand our positioning in God. We are His creation. Psalm 100:3 (KJV), Know ye that the Lord He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.

God has laid out specific guidelines in His Word regarding how we should demonstrate our love and dedication to our Maker. In this chapter, I have outlined five categories to help bring enlightenment as to what it takes to have a singleness of heart.
