A worthy read: The underlying principles of how to recognize ungodly authority and how to discern, navigate, war, and overcome a spirit that wants to usurp godly authority.

Warfare Strategies for Kingdom Advancement: Discerning the Absalom Spirit and Roots of the Fatherless Generations comes at a time in history when we are seeing a spirit of Absalom working diligently to undermine and overthrow the government of Heaven… a spirit that advocates for man to set his own rules and standards in lieu of advocating for godly standards. Thankfully, Sandie Freed addresses well where true authority lies—in heaven and then on earth—and brings a biblical understanding about how to bring heaven to earth.

Sometimes we are inclined to see an Absalom spirit in an overarching way based on general narcissistic manifestations: self-absorption, self-promotion, self-serving decision making. However, there is much more to an Absalom spirit, and this book drills down to the heart and motivation of an Absalom: self-worship and idolatry, rebellion and witchcraft, evil scheming, seductive maneuvers, manipulation, and the generational curse passed down from a previous generation of Absalom’s, whether through the lineage of the father or the mother.

When I re-read this book, and I most certainly will, I think I will start with Chapter 5: Deceptions of an Absalom Spirit. This chapter gives great context to understanding how deceptive an Absalom Spirit can be and why we all—well, likely all of us—have been duped at one time or another. Whether you are a back-to-front of-the-book reader or a front-to-back reader, you will be glad you took the time to read, study, and pray through each chapter.

As with scripture, Warfare Strategies for Kingdom Advancement: Discerning the Absalom Spirit and Roots of the Fatherless Generations is built on the biblical foundations of God’s rightful authority and governance and how we can exercise our rightful authority and godly governance here on earth. The principles are solid, the content is thoughtful, but it is in no way formulaic; it is a compelling, encouraging, and liberating message. Moreover, it gives people permission to say, I was deceived by an Absalom spirit, but I choose to overcome and walk in victory.

Regardless of where you start reading, Sandie Freed covers the subject matter in depth and each chapter leads the reader to a final conclusion: there are evil spirits at work, but we have the victory in Christ Jesus.

As we minister to those who have been deeply wounded, we often remind them that Jesus is the Redeemer. He never wastes our pain, but rather uses it to bring healing to others or to help them prevent the same pain in their lives. The most effective writing, therefore, comes from healed pain. When an author has been there, endured the pain, and received the healing, their message has far more impact.
