    The Detective trio

    Enigma 1

     The Vanishing of Violet Stone

Emma, Alex, and Sam were having a slow summer in their small town of Ravenwood. With no mysteries to solve, they were starting to get restless.

That all changed when they received an urgent call from the family of Violet Stone, a local girl who had gone missing.

The trio quickly sprang into action, determined to find out what had happened to Violet. They interviewed her friends and family, but no one seemed to have any idea where she could be.

Then they stumbled upon a clue that would lead them down a path they never expected.

It was a small, crumpled note found in Violet's bedroom.

The note read, Meet me by the river at midnight - J. The trio knew they had to investigate this lead further. They set out for the river that night, unsure of what they would find.

As they walked along the riverbank, they spotted a figure in the distance. It was a young man, pacing back and forth, looking anxious. As they got closer, they recognized him as James, a boy from Violet's class who had always been a bit of a troublemaker.

James, what are you doing here? Emma asked.

I...I was supposed to meet Violet here. She said she needed to talk to me about something important, James replied nervously.

Did she show up? Alex asked.

No, she never came. I waited here for hours, but she never showed up, James said, his voice shaking.

The trio looked at each other, sensing that something was off. They decided to press James for more information.

What was Violet going to talk to you about? Sam asked.

I don't know, she wouldn't say. She just told me to meet her here and to come alone, James replied.

The trio knew that they needed to investigate further. They decided to split up and search the area for any clues. As they searched, they came across a small boat docked by the riverbank. It was old and rickety, and looked like it hadn't been used in years.

This is strange, Emma said, looking at the boat. Why would there be a boat here?

Maybe Violet was planning on using it to escape, Alex suggested.

They decided to investigate the boat further. As they climbed aboard, they noticed that there was a small compartment under the floorboards. They pried it open and found a small, crumpled piece of paper inside.

It was a note, written in Violet's handwriting. It read, Meet me by the river at midnight - J. Bring the money.

The trio's minds were racing. What money was Violet talking about? And why was she meeting with James? They knew they needed to get to the bottom of this mystery.

They decided to confront James with the note. When they showed it to him, his face turned pale.

I...I don't know what that means, he stammered. I swear, I had nothing to do with Violet's disappearance.

The trio wasn't convinced. They knew they needed to investigate further. They decided to search James's house for any clues.

As they searched James's room, they found a bag filled with cash hidden under his bed.

They also found a letter from Violet, saying that she knew about the money he had stolen from a local store and that she would go to the police if he didn't return it.

The trio had all the evidence they needed. They confronted James with the evidence and he finally broke down, admitting to everything. He had taken the money from the store and was planning on running away with it. When Violet found out, she threatened to go to the police, so he had lured her to the river and tried to make her disappear.

The trio immediately called the police and turned James over to them. They then rushed to the river, hoping to find Violet before it was too late.

As they searched the riverbank, they heard a faint cry for help. They followed the sound and found Violet, tied up and gagged, in an old abandoned boathouse. They quickly untied her and called for an ambulance.

When Violet was taken to the hospital, the trio went to visit her. She was still shaken from her ordeal, but grateful to be alive.

Thank you so much for finding me, Violet said, tears streaming down her face. "I don't know what would have happened to me if you
