On a Saturday morning, just one week before Christmas, Adam and Elizabeth could hardly contain their excitement about the holiday. The last week was always a difficult one, as they wondered what gifts they would receive on Christmas Day. Being typical siblings, they sat on the sofa keeping a safe distance while they watched A Christmas Story. Elizabeth spoke first.

What do you think, Adam? Did Mom and Dad get us the things we asked for?

I dunno, said Adam. What I do know is, Mom’s gone to the grocery. Plus, Dad’s got his hands full shoveling that snow from last night. You know what a fanatic he is about shoveling, not only our sidewalks, but for anyone else on the block who needs it.
