About this ebook

With Valentine’s Day approaching, Oliver is determined to find a date so he won’t have to spend the holiday alone. The only problem is that, so far, he’s had zero luck. He’s also been pining over his Alpha neighbour for a long time, but he has seen him courting an Omega and knows there is no chance of them being together.

When the Alpha’s profile comes up in a dating website and they are matched, Oliver is determined to figure out why the Alpha is cheating on his Omega and makes a plan to expose his lies. After they agree on having a first date, Oliver is mortified to discover Sebastian is single and the Omega he was with is his brother.

Sebastian is not deterred by the misunderstanding and proposes they go on another date. Oliver, a romantic at heart, readily agrees, but is now completely terrified of making another mistake. He doesn’t want to ruin any chances they might have of working out before Valentine’s Day.

As they begin to learn more about each other and the holiday approaches, they must trust each other to navigate through their insecurities. Will they be able to sort themselves out in time for Valentine’s?

    Reckless Abandon - Fredrick Flynn

    Chapter 1: Hot Neighbour

The cold of January had come and brought with it some patches of stubborn snow that refused to melt. February, Oliver’s least favourite month in no small measure thanks to St. Valentine’s Day, was fast approaching. He was pretty sure he wasn’t the only one who disliked the holiday, but knowing that fact didn’t make it better when all he wanted was to spend just one St. Valentine’s with a date. Just the one, that was all he wanted. That desire had been what had led him to his current predicament, ironically. Oliver tapped his phone and refreshed the dating app chat. It remained unchanged.

He looked at both sides of King’s Street, in case he saw his date rushing to meet him. Of course he didn’t see anyone, but it was the principle of the thing. He shoved his phone into his coat’s pocket and began walking back home. He could have hailed a cab, but he didn’t want to waste money like that, especially when he had taken one earlier that day. By the time he made it home, it was dark. He struggled with the old door of his building and made sure to check his mailbox on his way up the stairs. He was eyeing the coupon book he’d received in the mail as he walked to his flat when the door of number seven opened.

Oliver looked up immediately, although he tried not to seem too eager. His neighbour, an Alpha who looked as though he’d been carved from marble, was talking to the Omega he was courting. Oliver wasn’t completely sure they were courting since he’d never actually asked Hot Neighbour about it. He didn’t know his neighbour’s name, but that wasn’t the point. The odd hours they kept, all the comings and goings of the Omega, it all pointed to a courtship and Oliver was happy for them. He tried to be, at least, even if he felt intensely jealous.

It had taken a lot of pints to admit to himself that was what he felt whenever he saw the Omega. It didn’t help that he was everything Oliver wasn’t. Hot Neighbour’s Omega was tall, strong, and had the most dazzling smile he had ever seen. It was fitting, he supposed, when Hot Neighbour was tall, and well-built. It was incredibly unfair, really. Hot Neighbour was also older than him, he had some white near his temples, and something about the idea of being with an older Alpha made him feel weak in the knees.

Hey, Hot Neighbour said when he saw Oliver. You alright?

Yeah. Oliver nodded and realised he’d been standing in the hallway staring at the couple. He started walking towards his door, number eight, across the hall from Hot Neighbour. You?

Alright, Hot Neighbour replied, looking back at the other Omega.

Oliver nodded at Hot Neighbour’s partner, but it was clear they were no longer paying attention to him. He unlocked the door, closed it, and immediately took a deep breath. Hot Neighbour’s scent was intoxicating. He closed his eyes and took a moment to enjoy the scent, ignoring the tent that was forming in his pants. He would do any number of unspeakable things to be able to scent Hot Neighbour, to climb on his lap and press his nose against his scent gland.

Only then did Oliver realise he hadn’t locked the door, so he did. He very reluctantly moved away
