    CHAPTER  ONE

    ––––––––

I walked behind him in tow four times, holding the dupatta in my hands that binds us together, taking laavan. It signifies we've accepted each other as one soul in two bodies. I sign the marriage paper and forward my hand with the pen. His gaze holds mine before returning to the paper. He holds it with a smile and signs it.

I'm his wife and he's my husband.

I sigh inwardly and gulp hard. I never imagined this day in my life. Here I'm wearing a bridal dress, gazing at my husband. All come at the same time to congratulate us. Mostly, I don't know them. So, I plaster my best smile and mutter thank you.

When he's busy talking to his brother. I use this opportunity to check him out. He is draped in a cream and golden threadwork sherwani teamed with the ivory shawl and golden safa with kalgi adornment. He's carrying the look of a king. He's looking super drenched in royalty and a stringed pearl mala around his neck.

Congrats to both of you! Sippy hugs me and congratulates us.

Thanks! Can I please change now? I don't wanna pass out on my wedding day. I whisper in her ear so no one can hear me. I don't want anyone to backbite about me. I don't care, but I'm his wife now. I'm used to it but he's not.

Wait! We can't go against your mother-in-law' desire. You may dress like a queen but she's the real queen of your husband's home. Pehu embraces her arms around us.

Gosh! I have got a mother-in-law. I mutter under my breath. All eyes are glued to me. I don't let my smile waver from my lips. So, I hold back rolling my eyes.

Arnav clears his throat. I swivel my neck to face him, Congratulations, wife. He blushes. I stop myself from rolling my eyes again. All I want to do is hit my back on the mattress and wanna sleep tightly.

You too, I keep my expression even.

Getting on his feet, he offers his hand. I wanna decline him but all gazes have turned on us. And how can I forget the happy faces of our families? I should include that I'm not gonna pretend in front of people, but it's his family. I place my hand in his, he tugs me up, very carefully. It feels like I'm carrying weight. I look around for my friends. After congratulating me, they left me alone with him.

His family isn't leaving his side for a second.

On the way back to his car, I keep my eyes on the path. I can hear the click of the camera. He's holding my hand. Why can't he scoop me up for a second to know how it's difficult for me to walk, my neck is hurting. I'm sure I'm going to get notches. I can't even plan on sneaking out. This is so heavy.

Congratulations, man. I immediately recognized the accent. I look up at James. He gives a tight hug to him and turns to me pulling back from him, Congratulations, SuHana! I smile at the pronunciation of my name. He inclines in and places a small kiss on my cheek.

Thank you, James. If my name is not coping with your tongue, you can call me Hana. I smile. I don't give anyone any right to use this name, because I love my youngest brother. James seems like a kind-hearted guy.

That'd be great. I'll not stop you. It's a lunch ceremony. he says, glancing down at his wristwatch. I would have gladly accepted the offer if he had said, you should change. The wedding is over.

Thanks, man Arnav squeezes my hand.

I peer at him, Are you jealous? I ask, holding back a smile.

He holds the door for me. I grasp my lehenga and slip into his car, I've mixed feelings. I'll not mind accepting, Yeah! A bit. He admits.

The day seems longer than usual. I would be more excited if I could wear my casual clothes. I kept quiet the entire way back to his villa. I want it to end soon and hit my back on the mattress. But that seems like a dream for now. He watches me with an expression, I can't decipher.

What? I keep my voice low. The Bridal isn't supposed to use such a tone with her husband. I don't care. I wanna get out of this heavy dress. I'm not a queen, Is something on my face? I ask him, Oh yeah! A tonne of makeup! I answer myself.

No, but you're looking disturbed. He says.

There's no way I'm going to share my problems with him. I smile fully, Is this fine, dear husband? I keep the irritation away from my voice as I point at my smile.

I love the husband part. He wryly smiles, But seriously, tell me. He asks.

Huh! As I'm gonna tell. I'm not in the mood to be polite. So it'd be better if I'll keep quiet. He keeps his gaze not on me.

Gosh! I would have punched him if he would have been someone else, not Arnav. I know he's waiting for me to reply. But I'm going to give him every reason to regret his decision of marrying me, You don't need to be stubborn. He says and gives me his phone. It perplexed me, If you don't wanna tell me. Talk to your friends. I can't see you like this. And here we go! I'm feeling guilty now. It melts me down, less time than ice melts.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean that. I say out louder than expected, giving his phone back.

Wow! You have recently got married and already begun the fighting part. Karan says from the driver' seat.

Another embarrassment! I've forgotten, we weren't alone, Karan! His tone is a warning.

I stare out of the window. Tears form in my eyes. Shit! I don't wanna do this! Once my tears begin to trail down, it'll be impossible for me to stop crying.

I'm sorry. He whispers kindly in my ear and extends his hand with a white handkerchief.

Ignoring the shiver his voice sends down my spine, I take it from him. I'm not used to a man out of my family sitting so close to me. It's not his fault. I can't help myself. I'm not like other people who change.

Determinedly, I push the tears back. I glance at his phone. He forwards his hand after unlocking it, I take it and immediately jot down a message to Mini.

    ' Can I change my dress now? -S '

I don't want anyone around me as I'm not used to it. But the situation is better than the situation I'm going to be in. A hall is filled with unknown people. At least I know my husband before marriage.

Mini replies immediately, ' Sorry baby! You can change only after reaching your new room. That's not happening until the night. '

Not Noon! Not evening! But at night!

I frown and shove it back in his hand. I haven't felt helpless before. I have but not in this matter. I do what I want to. It could be anything, clothes, a major step in my life, it depends.

Karan pulls over the car in front of the Villa. A huge troop is waiting for us. James opens the door of my side. Arnav walks around stepping out of it and holds out his hand again.

Gosh! I can do it myself. I put my hand in his hand but this time I dug my nails in his palms. From his wider eyes, I can expect, he hasn't expected it. Good! I wait for his angry glare.

Opposite! He squeezes my hand and laughs, his eyes sparkling. There is only innocence behind them.

I bite my inner cheek. He will find a way to make me feel guilty.

When he turns to look at his mother who is standing as a leader of the troop. His expression changes, his expression turns impassive, my hands get cold suddenly.

Something unusual I haven't seen in his behaviour, What's she doing here? Arnav whispers gruffly to Karan.

I hear it. It clears my doubt, Your girlfriend is here! I whisper. Their heads swivel at me. Their looks confirm it too, Good! Now it's something interesting. I actually smile. But deep down I'm gonna hate it if he's still going to be with her. I don't wanna decipher. Slightly, I shake my head.

Karan and James look at me astoundingly, I want a wife like her. James says, his expression doesn't waver. His smile broadens.

You'll get one soon. I look at him.

He returns it and taps Arnav' s back, You're lucky one, man. My girl would have jumped on my ex and clawed her. James laughs.

It's only me who joins him in his laugh, He broke up with her one year ago. Karan says.

But she still looks damn serious about him. See! She can't take her eyes off of your brother. I say.

Karan looks at her, Damn true, Bhabhi! He smirks.

I giggle, but I lower my head. People are going to talk about me behind my back that I don't love my parents, there's no tear in her eyes, she isn't sad that she's going to spend her life away from her parents and brothers. IDC! They'll see me smiling without tears in my eyes.

    She's just...

Relax husband! Your mother is coming. Don't show that you are not happy. I gesture at his face with my eyes.

I'm glad that I got something interesting rather than fussing over the heaviness of my dress and jewellery. I've just guessed it, I haven't seen her properly. I can bet she'll come to him at least give him her sarcastic blessing.

    CHAPTER  TWO

    ––––––––

I breathe in relief when they've left us alone. I don't remember any of them, his mother introduced me to the new family's members. I did one thing that plastered a huge smile on my face. His girlfriend didn't come to bless him. But I wanted that to be. Alas! We didn't talk about it later.

His room is on the second floor. I glance back. When there's no one to see us. I bend and take off my heels. I bend down to pick them up.

    You look tired. He says.

Picking them up, I glance at him, You're looking as you can go through it again. I mock.

Listen! Harleen was my girlfriend. He stops and whirls to look at me.

I yawn and cover my mouth with my second hand, I don't care. I'll not mind. You can date her. Right now, husband! I'm dead tired. I want warm water... a lot. I'm using the washroom first. I say and pace ahead of him.

Sure! I think my words make him sad, Third door! He says, rushing ahead and opening the door for me.

My eyes widen at the decoration when I step into the room. There are heart-shaped red balloons on the floor, candles, and dim lighting from lamps. The king-size bed is covered with white sheets and the sheet is covered with white and red rose's petals. The tables on both sides of the bed are gleaming with candles. I swallow hard. I don't wanna look at him.

I didn't plan this. He stares around in bewilderment.

Of course, I planned this. I twirl with a sudden female's voice in the room. Harleen walks in the room, swaying her hips, in her tight red gown. Her dress is long but it is showing extra of her skin.

Great! She has already planned on seducing him.

Congratulations, brother and bhabhi! A girl says from behind Harleen, stepping ahead. She looks around eighteen and excited to see a bride. She is wearing a light pink lehenga with straight long hair and of course, makeup and gold jewellery!

Thanks, Navu! He says to her and turns to Harleen with a cold look, You don't need to do this. He gruffly says.

Of course! Darling! I need to do it, She places her hand on his chest. I can guess the way she looks at him as she wanna demure him alive. They were more than just a girlfriend boyfriend. I can guess, they would have planned it for their wedding night.

    Poor Navu! She's looking
