Sixty Days of Reading Enlightenment and Spiritual Growth - Lillie White

    Making decisions without God

We as humans see ourselves as capable of making decisions on our own because we are grown. We do so without praying and without seeking God’s guidance or approval. Every day we make decisions apart from God’s word and think it will turn out well. We do the same thing over and over, expecting a different result. You keep wondering why you’re going through the same thing over and over, yet it never seems to work. Do you ask yourself, Is this God’s will for me to move out of state, purchase a home, marry this man or woman? Do you seek his approval before you make decision? You must lean on him in every decision you make, trusting him and his guidelines so you do not go through struggles; that’s never God’s will for you. You will never know until you ask him, and it’s better to know the answer now than to be sorry later.

Whenever you are making decision that will change your life. Always talk to God first, to see what his will is for your life. It’s not what make sense to you.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understand in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

    (Prov. 3:5–6)

Making decisions without God will never come out right. Sometimes it’s hard for us to leave our cares at the altar and patiently wait for God to answer. Patience does not come easily to many of us, but he knows best for us. We are his children. Every father who loves you would want to help you make decisions that will benefit you. God says in his word, if a sinful man known how to give good gift to his children, how much more shall your Father, which is in heaven, give good things to them that ask him?

The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.

    (Ps. 34:15, 17)

So now you have seen it in black-and-white, now all you should do is believe it as truth. My desire is to help anyone who’s trying to follow my God. We all are trying to get to the same place, heaven. If you follow God’s word, you are on your way. Don’t ever give up on anything, trust God’s word. Trusting God suits you well; it looks good on you.

    Hanging on by a thread

When life has dealt you unimaginable, unthinkable, indescribable circumstances, you’ve got to hold on no matter what. It’s not what you feel, think, or see; you must stay sane and don’t lose faith. Life happens; most of it happens by surprise. You weren’t looking for it or expecting it. This can leave you feeling like you are hanging on by a thread, with no way out.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

    (Ps. 46:1–3)

God’s hand is not too short to reach you. When you have done all to stand, now let God do the rest. Let us look at some of our Bible descendants, such as Naomi in the book of Ruth. She lost everything that was dear to her, and she gave up hope and thought God was punishing her.

We also find the widow women in 1 Kings chapter 17, who has only one meal left for her and her son. Her plan was to eat that and die; however, God had a different plan for her through Elijah.

God set her up for a blessing, turning her hopelessness into her possibility.

They were at the worst stages of their life and were hanging on by a thread.

God was setting them up for an unimaginable blessing, turning her thread into a rope. Sometimes God proposes a different direction for us to move toward his plans and purpose for our lives.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

    (Jer. 29:11)

    Personal

I have learned that when things come into my life that I didn’t expect, I first examine who is sending it to me, God or Satan. I search the word to see if this thing is adding up with the Bible. I strengthen my faith through the word of God. Then I stay in God’s face every day until I get an answer. God loves it when you are totally depending on him. He is your father, and you are his child. God told us to come boldly before his throne. Don’t ever be fearful or ashamed in approaching your father.

I hope this helps you some way; go on, talk to him. You don’t have to use big words. Open your heart and let go. Aren’t you tired of hanging on by a thread?

    Not Until God Says So

Nothing is over until God says it’s over. Paul was beaten and left for dead. Satan has attacked us from all directions and left us for dead. He thought that there was no more life left in us. Nothing is over until God says so. We have a fight in us that Satan knows nothing about. It’s called the Holy Spirit.

Then some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium and won the crowd over. They stoned Paul and dragged him outside the city, thinking he was dead. But after the disciples had gathered around him, he got up and went back into the city. The next day he and Barnabas left for Debre.

    (Acts 14:19–20)

Paul had many encounters with Satan, and so do we. God brought him through them all and will do the same thing for us.

Paul gathered a pile of brushwood and, as he put it on the fire, a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself on his hand. When the islanders saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to each other, This man must be a murderer; for though he escaped from the sea, the goddess Justice has not allowed him to live. But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects.

    (Acts 28:3–5)

God is always prepared for any trick Satan might have for us. The Bible tells us God gives us authority to tread upon serpent and scorpions and over the power over the enemy.

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.

    (Acts 16:25–26)

    Personal

I don’t know about you, but Paul was not worried about his tomorrow. He was trusting in Jesus all the way. He had a made-up mind to serve the Lord all the days of his life. Hold out and hold on. If the wind (Satan) begins to beat up on your life and the waves seem to overtake you, just remember that God said, I’ll never leave you or forsaken you, It’s not over ’til I say so.

When life gets hard and you get a little fearful, God will help you get through this, and when it’s over, it’s over. Satan can’t do anything else when God says it’s over. God is all powerful, and what he says can’t be change. Satan can’t take anything from you unless God says so. Smile—no worries. God will never say so.
