About this ebook

Power from an Empty Tomb helps the reader to think about why Jesus' birth, death, and resurrection really matters for life today.          Step-by step, each chapter in this book, hopefully, will encourage the faithful Believer to:Accept Jesus as the Savior of the world, Celebrate His death, because He took our penalty for sin, and Three days later He arose triumphant from His grave, defeating both sin and death.                                    How do I know He lives?   Scriptures teach us that Jesus Christ's life will be in us only as we genuinely seek to make His way our way of life-        to walk as He walked, to live as He lived.  There is no man in history whose life changed the world than Jesus.         He is the ultimate reality of God's plan for humanity to have eternal life with Him. The gift of God's eternal Son demonstrates His love for man        to receive life, hope, and truth.  THAT IS POWER FROM AN EMPTY TOMB!

Power from an Empty Tomb - Dr. Claudette B. Bryant

    Chapter 1

    The Perfect Sacrifice Arrives

John refers to Jesus as the sacrificial Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. He was the one the Holy Spirit landed on when He came down from heaven like a dove. John witnessed this event and assured the disciples that this was the Son of God in whom He was well pleased.

Before Jesus came to earth, the Israelites’ way to get rid of sin and guilt was to kill a lamb and offer its blood to God as a sacrifice. God says all sin must be paid for with physical death. God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus to be that sacrifice for everyone’s sin. Jesus is the Lamb who gave His life to rescue man from a nature to sin; no animal could do this for us, only the blood of Jesus.

The apostle Paul was intelligent, articulate, and committed to his transformation by God from a persecutor of Christians to a preacher for Christ. He was very responsive to God’s commands on his life and was never afraid to face a challenge as God directed. The lives Paul touched were changed and challenged by meeting Christ through him.

Romans chapter 5, starting at verse 12, offers a message for the believer about man’s death through Adam but life through Christ is available. The real message that Paul wants every believer to receive is that forgiveness of sin and access to God is offered by one person, Jesus Christ.

For centuries God has been dealing with man and his evil ways. Adam and Eve’s disobedience caused a perfect plan for life to remove God’s gracious presence from all creation. God did not make a body and put a soul inside, instead He made a body of dust to live and it became a living person or soul (Genesis 2:7). The soul may be considered the sum total of our self-consciousness of right and wrong. Your soul has a divine connection to the Creator, Holy God.

Our God is a God of purpose. In the beginning of creation days, He had a will and a plan. This plan also had an eternal purpose. He created man and desired to adopt all mankind into His own family by bringing us to Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:5).

Sin by Adam and Eve broke their relationship with God; therefore, everyone is born a sinner. God is the Creator of all, but by rejection, He is not the Father of all. Back in Adam’s day and even now, man is looking for answers about man’s behavior being out of control. It took one sin from Adam for the innate corrupting element to enter into the human race. Sin was passed on to all procreation.

Death entered the world through sin when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:3). This death came as an invader, a usurper, an intruder upon the relationship God desired from man. So now here you come into the world a born sinner with the tendency to do evil deeds. You are dead spiritually, you will die physically, and some day you will die eternally. Wow! Look at how man can cause a mess for all God’s creation. Obedience is better than self-consciousness of wrong.

Adam represented the first human in creation, Christ represents God in the flesh. So we all need God’s mercy; He is holy and will not associate Himself with anything or person that is evil. He hates sin but He loves the sinner.

The Ten Commandments were given to Moses thousands of years ago and were quickly proven not to stop man from sinning. The Commandments show us at least ten sins that man needs to take an active responsibility about but there was no remedy offered. Again, the point or concern for the believer is to understand, all mankind reaped the results of Adam’s sin. We have inherited his guilt, a sinful nature (a tendency to sin). God’s punishment is death, which is our spiritual disconnection to the Creator who made us in His own image.

But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die

    (Genesis 2:17).

Think about climbing a ladder to get to God which is symbolic of having a connection between heaven and you. Just as in Jacob’s dream, whatever it takes to have your own personal contact with God, stay
