About this ebook

It is not uncommon in biblical history for God to use the unqualified, the uneducated, and the uncooperative to do His will. He has provided direction and revelation for such people for the express purpose of bringing glory to Himself and His plan. Here I am, fulfilling all three of the undesirable human characteristics for the express purpose of bringing Jesus glory. After one receives Jesus as Lord and Savior, a hunger to read the Bible soon follows. The more I learned and grew, the more questions sprouted during my Christian growth. Big personal questions followed, and I wanted big personal answers. I believe many of us have similar questions too. This book answers not only the title question but more questions than just the ones listed below: 1. Would Jesus really erase someone's name from His book of Life? And if so, why? 2. God gave humanity free will, but are there limits to one's free will? 3. Can one really renounce one's salvation? 4. How do the Ten Commandments apply to believers in Jesus and His new covenant? What are the differences between the two covenants? How do those differences apply to one's life? 5. If I am forgiven of all my sins, do I still pay for my sins? 6. If Jesus forgave all my sins, what will I be judged for? 7. I believe my past sins are forgiven, but what about today's and tomorrow's sins? 8. Do I have to confess all my sins till the day I die? What if I forget to confess a sin? 9. Is it right that we're taught we are saved by grace in the new covenant but then we must live by obedience to the Ten Commandments in the old covenant? What chance of success do we have of that since Jesus is the only person to never break a single law and never sin? 10. What happens when I deliberately sin? 11. How did Jesus define sin differently than Moses?

To add relevance to this topic, let’s first look at the extremes that God will go through to give a single person eternal life with Him. This is also an indication of the lengths He will go to, to bring back a prodigal (rebellious) child.

We all know John 3:16 (NLT):

For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

So anyone who believes in Jesus will be saved, period.

This kind of belief is absolute. We believers stake our salvation on this verse, and it is true because Jesus (the only sacrifice required by Father God for our sins) said so. God’s sacrifice of His one and only Son is the only scriptural sacrifice God required under the new covenant for the atonement (or forgiveness) of sin.

But how far will God go for one person? Undoubtedly, we all know a person or persons who do not yet believe in Jesus. We also know that God never stops seeking those who are lost so they may be found.

A mob quickly formed against Paul and Silas, and the city officials ordered them stripped and beaten with wooden rods. They were severely beaten, and then they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn’t escape. So the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks.

Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off! The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself. But Paul shouted to him, Stop! Don’t kill yourself! We are all here!

The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and asked, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

They replied, Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household. And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household. (Acts 16:22–32, NLT)

So God allowed Paul and Silas to be severely beaten with rods and imprisoned. God made an earthquake to open the doors to a prison to get Paul and Silas out and stopped the jailer from committing suicide so that jailer would believe in Jesus and be saved. Then God saved the man’s family. What manner of love is this that God would go to these extremes as well as sacrificing His one and only Son to make the whole process possible?

For those of us with children and grandchildren who are walking in the world without believing in Jesus, know this:

Many will come from you. I will make nations of you. Kings will come from you. I will make My agreement between Me and you and your children after you through their whole lives for all time. I will be God to you and to your children’s children after you. (Gen. 17:6–7, NLV)

In these scriptures, God is talking to Abraham. Abraham was also under a grace covenant. This scripture happened about four hundred years before the Law of Moses. It was at this time that God made this promise to all of Abraham’s children, which includes us who have believed in Jesus today. I am saying this so when you look at your children or grandchildren and don’t see them walking with Jesus at this moment, don’t worry. Their earthquake is coming! Their chains of bondage will drop off! The door to their imprisoned, hard hearts will be opened, and they will believe in the Son of the Living God, King Jesus, and they will be saved!

The extremes God will go to, to save a single person are well-documented with a specific promise for our families.

If your children or grandchildren are saved and have
