    Studying the Bible: Back to the Bible

    To God and Jesus Whose inspired Word from the Bible allowed me and led me to write this book. Without them I am nothing.

    Introduction

    I am writing this as a tool or to help you study or to find scriptures if you don't have them memorized.

    I know there will be some of your favorite scriptures that I didn't get in here. There will be some you don't like, maybe, if that's possible.

    I don't expect you to pick it apart, to find fault with it, because it was meant to help you study and to understand the Bible. There will be things you don't think belong under the title/heading I put them under. I did the best I could to make it easier to find by subject.

    Don't you just hate those people who have it memorized and can spout scriptures on command? I guess that's good somehow.

    I also wrote this because I hate those pastors and others who use different translations to make a point. I use the New King James Version because I like it and I wanted to be as close to what God and Jesus said in reality. After all, there were no other translations hundreds and even thousands of years ago.

    It drives me crazy when someone goes back and forth to prove a point between books of the Bible or the Old and New Testaments. Jesus and God didn't speak this way. Someone once said the Bible says what it means—instead of this mumbo jumbo and saying this doesn't mean that, it means this. Sorry, but you don't get to tell me it doesn't mean what it says straight up. I heard someone once say the Bible means what it says. I hope the Lord wasn't trying to confuse us or trick us. Stupid, huh?

    Some of these translations are ridiculous like the Amplified that adds a bunch of adjectives. In Revelation 22:18–19, it says, For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

    So is this talking about the book of Revelation or the whole Bible? I am guessing Revelation, but still shouldn't this apply to the whole Bible?

    Anyway, I am not a pastor, minister, priest, etc. I am just a guy trying to make sense of the Bible and the apparent contradictions. I hope it helps. Enjoy.

    Bible Notes

    A Friend

    My friends scorn me;

    My eyes pour out tears to God. (Job 16:20)

    My relatives have failed,

    And my close friends have forgotten me. (Job 19:14)

    The poor man is hated even by his own neighbor,

    But the rich has many friends. (Proverbs 14:20)

    A friend loves at all times,

    And a brother is born for adversity. (Proverbs 17:17)

    A man who has friends must himself be friendly,

    But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. (Proverbs 18:24)

    Do not forsake your own friend or your father's friend. (Proverbs 27:10)

    The Value of a Friend

    Two are better than one,

    Because they have a good reward for their labor.

    For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.

    But woe to him who is alone when he falls,

    For he has no one to help him up.

    Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm;

    But how can one be warm alone?

    Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.

    And a threefold cord is not quickly broken. (Ecclesiastes 4:9–12)

    And He said to them, Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves.' (Luke 11:5)

    Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. (John 15:13)

    No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My
