About this ebook

Silly Women Anonymous is a fictitious Christian-based organization where "silly women" go for spiritual and emotional healing. These women have done some "silly," or foolish things, in their relationships with men. In each chapter, a woman enters the door of Silly Women Anonymous and introduces herself during a meeting. Each person is assigned a seasoned mentor. In every chapter, a woman shares her "silly woman" story, providing background information about her life and her relationship as well as biblical truths she learned that led to her healing. Silly Women Anonymous was inspired by the scripture 2 Timothy 3:1-7, where it speaks about high-minded, boastful, self-loving players who have a form of godliness. These men would creep into "silly women" houses, leading them into the captivity of various types of sinful lusts:

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For

men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud,

blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without

natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce,

despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded,

lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of

godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive

silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever

learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

    Introduction

This book, Silly Women Anonymous , was inspired by the scripture 2 Timothy 3:1–7. According to the Strong’s Concordance , this portion of Scripture tells us that in the last days, perilous (terrifying) times shall come; men shall become lovers of selves, covetous (materialistic), boasters, proud, blasphemers (slanderous), disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy (wicked), without natural affection (inhumane, unloving), truce breakers (cannot be persuaded to enter into a covenant), false accusers (liars), incontinent (lacking self-control), fierce (vicious), despisers of those that are good (hostile toward that which is good or virtuous), having a form of godliness (resemblance of godliness) but denying the power thereof (denying the impact of these very behaviors).

The author of 2 Timothy, presumed to be the apostle Paul, goes on to warn in verses 5–7:

From such turn away: For this sort are they which creep into houses and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts.

Many generations throughout history have witnessed such perilous times—when self-loving men have crept into silly women houses. These men have captured the hearts of silly women and left them laden with all types of lust (obsessing over that which could never satisfy). Likewise, silly women have long been prey to the shenanigans of self-loving men.

A silly person is described as someone who does not behave in an intelligent or sensible manner and is ignorant about their warped thinking and poor decision-making. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the definition of the word syndrome is a group of signs and symptoms that occur together and are characteristic of a particular abnormality or condition. A pattern of adverse thinking, negative emotions, and unwise decision-making of silly women falls under the category of a syndrome since upon close examination, the following set patterns demonstrated by silly women can be identified—ignorance (spiritual blindness or a lack of knowledge), having behavioral addictions (acting upon obsessive yearnings or lustful desires), and having feelings of victimization (blaming others for their demise when it’s their own self-sabotaging actions that ought to be blamed). Typically, silly women fail to heed Paul’s warning to turn away from self-loving men, because they appear to be drawn toward self-absorbed men.

In modern times, self-loving men are known as players. Players are as equally in the dark as silly women. They too demonstrate identifiable patterns of ignorance, addictive, and self-sabotaging behaviors. However, unlike silly women, they tend to be perpetrators with seared consciences. They characteristically give heed to seducing spirits and false doctrines and hypocritically speak lies to women:

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron. (1 Timothy 4:1–2)

In the inspirational scripture of 2 Timothy, the apostle Paul said that self-loving men had a form of godliness. He also gave the impression that these men were of a congregation of which Timothy was a leader. There are several verses in 2 Timothy that support these impressions:

Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord. (2 Timothy 2:14)

Let everyone that nameth the name of Christ, depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. (2 Timothy 2:19–20)

In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth: And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. (2 Timothy 2:25–26)

One significant note worth mentioning is that according to the apostle Paul, the players of Timothy’s congregation were caught in a snare of the devil, and they were taken captive by him at his will (2 Timothy 2:26). This means that these men were ignorant of their spiritual demise and the way in which the devil was able to deceive and enslave them. Second Timothy 3:13 supports this notion where the apostle Paul wrote:

But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

Furthermore, these men had no knowledge of the impact that their seducing ways were having upon women.

In speaking about self-loving men of Timothy’s congregation, 2 Timothy 3:8–9 tells us:

These also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds; reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further; for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.

Paul was telling Timothy that these men had resisted truth, and their mischief was about to be exposed to all men. To all men suggests that even silly women were about to be alerted. Paul and Timothy’s generation took the time to alert the Christians about the devastating seducing spirits that stir up lust. However, today such topics are not embarked upon in congregations. Before we go any further, it is necessary for us to further explore the term sin and death.

    Romans 8:1–4 states:

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

This portion of Scripture tells us that sin and death is a law that says that sin in the flesh is condemned (pardoned) only for those who are in Christ and who walk after the Spirit. It suggests that one could be in Christ yet choose to walk after the flesh. For these, sin is not condemned. As such, condemnation (guilty verdict) remains in effect. Many falsely believe that those that are in Christ are always in the Spirit.

Ephesians 5:18–21 cites what it takes to be filled with the Spirit:

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit: Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord: Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ: Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

In Galatians 5:16–18, the apostle Paul again cited what we need to do to walk in the Spirit or be led of the Spirit:

This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Galatians 6:8 explains that those who sow to the flesh reap corruption and those that sow to the Spirit reap life that is everlasting:

For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Philippians 3:16–18 suggests that to walk in the Spirit is to walk as Jesus walked and that those who don’t are enemies of the cross:

Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ.)

First John 2:6 suggests the same:

He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

All in all, Christians can be in Christ and not walk after the Spirit because we sometimes choose not to crucify the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we walk after the Spirit, we shall bear the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22–24 cites the fruit of the Spirit:

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Romans 6:23 states that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. This verse suggests that death is the consequence of sin and the opposite of life. It also tells us that life is a gift of God. According to the Strong’s Concordance, life in the Greek language is Zoe, and it is translated as a state of one who is possessed of vitality. Hence, life through Jesus Christ speaks to everything that constitutes vitality or vivaciousness and not the fact that we are breathing. The term sin and death is often defined by Bible scholars as eternal separation from God. This definition of the term sin and death suggests that it has solely to do with the final judgment in the afterlife. However, in
