About this ebook

This is a collection of fifty-two poems that were written over a two-year period. What is extraordinary about the poems is that "they" came to me. I'm convinced that these poems were given to me by the Holy Spirit. Why do I think this? Oddly enough, I'm not a poet. I practice cardiology. Moreover, when these poems popped into my head, I wrote them down feverishly, as if a scribe, to get all the words down to paper. Overwhelmingly, most of the poems were written within about five minutes! I give all glory and credit to God for using me as a vessel to glorify Him. These poems are not just for Christians. They are for everyone who would open their hearts to read of the God that I love. Please enjoy.

Carry On - Daniele De Girolami

    Thy Countenance

How to see Thy countenance, O Lord

Darkness of blind sin cannot permit

A glimmer of Thy light upon us, toward

Without faith, desperate hours do so befit

Through veil we cannot see Thee, thus prevail

The path so twisted, sinewy, misused

Straighten with Thine hands and set the sail

Our sea of vile unrighteousness imbued

Though blessings come and go, on Thee depend

Not faith in charm, nor cross, iconic glass

For Thou art God, no onset and no end

No other in whom to worship, to surpass

O Blessed One, on bended knee we bow

To give Thee praise with words and hymns of love

Though myriads of trials Thou would allow

To bring us nearer to Thee, O Glorious One

How to see Thy countenance, O Lord

Before daft pride and trampled under foot

We fall down to our knees to pray, adore

We’re but just filthy rags and murky soot

Upon Thy yoke we turn to Thee and say

Receive our hapless burdens of despair

To Thee our pains and sufferings we lay

And all the earthly wickedness and cares

O Gracious One, O Majesty on high

We worship Thee with heart, soul, mind, and yet

Through tests and trials we look for Thine reply

To comfort those in pain and stark regret

We seek to find the one true God above

With depth of grace, who conquered sin and death

Who hung on cross, humility in love

In Thee, we find tranquility and rest

    The Cornerstone

    On Resurrection Day

    Reflect to know the truth

    The Sacrificial Lamb

Has paid the price for you

    His anguish draped in blood

    Was needed to repay

    Defiant Adam’s stain

    With selfless driven love

    Through spikes, unrighteousness law

    Lies crushed beneath the cross

    He washed away all sin

To save us from the fall

    This Cornerstone becomes

    Our purpose of all reason

    Rebirth is born anew

    The promise life eternal

    What trials could justify

    The lives that we enliven

When Christ was born to die

    So we could be arisen

Please bow your heads in prayer

    And listen to the Word

    Be perfect for the Lord

His love was shown for you

    Humility in grace

    Though nailed upon the cross

    The curtain torn in two

    Now, separation lost

We’re born to Him through pain

    He took upon our sins

    The very least we can

    In giving worship, praise

    Is recognize the loss

    For our immortal gain

He did it all for us

    The consequence, the cross

No act or work of love

    Could ever truly pay

For that which Christ has done

    On Resurrection Day

    Be thankful and give praise

For through Him we’ve been saved

    Now live as truly free

The gift that you’ve been given

    This gift of Resurrection

    The promise of new life

With Christ right by your side

    Eternal compromise

    A Prayer

    Lord, my Lord

    I follow You

Though the path be poorly lit

Though the sin in me convicts

I shall not fall, in You, I trust

In faith, the cross of glory must

Resurrect me from my lurid past

I am redeemed, no longer cast

O gracious Lord, I follow You

    Lord, Jesus Christ

    I follow You

Cleanse me from deceit and lies

Secure the path from darkened skies

I cannot see, please light my path

    Beyond my sin, the aftermath

To live in trust, in harmony

The love You give, my destiny

    Beloved Lord, I follow You

    Lord God of Hosts

    I follow You

It’s not enough that knowledge boasts

Or in belief in You, engrossed

But trust in God, above all else

The stench of pride before me melts

The glory road of Christ is seen

Who strips the sinner’s varnish clean

O mighty Lord, I follow You.

    O wondrous Lord

    I follow You

I bow down to my knees and cry

The tears of joy, a lullaby

No words could ever say, explain

The majesty, Your Son, Your reign

My life, it’s all I have to give

I died to self, Lord Jesus lives

    Redeemer Lord, I follow You

My only God, I follow You

    Man of Sorrows

    Despised, this Man of Sorrows

    Lay hung on cursed tree

    This burdened weight of humankind

    Transgressed iniquity

    Whose ransom cast for many

    Marks of savagery remain

To fill the cup of Majesty

    Propitiation pain

Who could forsaken take His place

    No scapegoat could endure

The wrath of Abba as He turned

His back on One so pure

Bloodied cross, the Lamb is hung

    Trespasses thick as nails

Disgraced, the crown of thorns belongs

    To sinners all, we failed

    His heavy burden suffocates

    The torture, pangs to breathe

As Jesus tries to lift us
