About this ebook

Mary, known as the "Queen of Peace" and the mother of Jesus Christ, is making this little hamlet of Medjugorje the mouthpiece for her Son's message to the world. It has become a potent instrument for sanctifying all faiths having the one God as the foundation of belief. The message is simple and direct. It can be understood and accepted by Catholics, protestants, Muslims, or Jews and is meant for all of them.

The following is a quote from Wayne Weible:

This story is about a nonpracticing Catholic with little or no faith and in great need of help. It was a small step I took in faith that led me to tell this story.

    About the Author

To the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, and the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus our Lord and Redeemer.

    Introduction

The Blessed Virgin Mary comes into the world in order to lead humanity back to Jesus our Lord and Savior. As of this writing, the church has not approved, nor disapproved, these apparitions in Medjugorje and will not do so until the apparitions have concluded. When Pope John Paul II was asked about pilgrims visiting Medjugorje, he merely stated that if the people are converting, let them go. He also recommended that the priest and religious should be encouraged to go.

There are many of Mary's adversaries trying to discredit these apparitions, and they have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars trying to do so to no avail. With all the hunger in the world, they could have done a lot of good with all that money they throw away trying to discredit the events taking place in Medjugorje. Mary tells the seers that wherever she is, Satan is close at hand, hence the war in Yugoslavia.

I offer this book only as a testimony of what transpired in my life and how Medjugorje has affected me personally. Whether the church approves or disapproves of the Medjugorje events will not make a difference to me because my heart tells me what is true. I always thought that the stories in the Bible were just stories, but they are more than just stories. I now know that Jesus is the way and the truth, and the Bible is the inspired word of God. I have been blessed to be able to witness many healings both of the body and of the soul.

I cannot thank Our Lady enough for what she has done for me personally in that of bringing me back to her Son Jesus in such a gentle and motherly way as she does for all her children who ask.

    Chapter 1

    First Reality Check

It was one day in September of 1977 when I finally had had enough of the company I was working for and turned in my two-week notice. The original company that I was working for was bought out by this new company out of Chicago. They started making new policies right away, and for each new policy, I figured out that it was costing me around a thousand dollars for each change. Before the changes, I was making around thirty thousand a year, and the company furnished me with a car and gas. Within a couple of years, after the new company took over, I found myself making seventeen thousand a year. Also, I was required to furnish my own car and gas. When I turned in my two-week notice to the company, they dismissed me immediately sending me packing.

At home, I was waiting for my wife to get off work and was thinking of how I was going to lay the news on her as she had no idea what was coming. My wife knew that I was unhappy at work, but she didn't know to what extent or that I would quit my job.

My wife worked as a subcontractor for Sears's drapery department. Her job was to go into Sears's customer homes and fix whatever was wrong with their draperies that were installed or manufactured improperly. She was only called upon as a last resort in order to try to please their customer. By the time my wife got to the customer's home, the customer would be very upset, venting their frustrations with Sears onto my wife. On some occasions, this would bring my wife to tears because of the customer's cruelty.

When my wife finally arrived home from work, and before I had a chance to tell her my news, she informed me that she had quit her job with Sears as she couldn't handle it any longer. After giving her my news, we both sat in the family room wondering what we were going to do next. With both of us out of work and with no prospects in sight, my wife suggested we start our own drapery manufacturing business. We could convert our garage into a workshop. I could sell the draperies, and she would custom manufacture them.

At that time, we had three thousand dollars in our savings account with which I bought a couple of used commercial sewing machines and made a long cutting table for my wife to work on. By the time we got our business licenses, resale license, and did some advertising in the PennySaver, we were pretty much broke. When December 22 rolled around, we were broke and two months behind on our house payments and two months behind on our car payments; and we had no groceries left in the house.

Having three small children with ages ranging from two months to six years of age, my wife and I decided that celebrating Christmas was not an option. We would have to tell the kids that there would be no Santa Clause this year. If that wasn't bad enough, that evening, there was a knock on the front door. It was an old lady soliciting donations for the Salvation Army. I explained to the lady our situation and told her we were just getting ready to talk to the kids about having no Santa. She invited us down to the Salvation Army's Christmas party they have each year for the needy. I thanked her for the invitation, but my pride just wouldn't allow me to take the family there. I learned from this experience not to judge people who live in nice houses because you don't know what is really going on behind closed doors.

On December 23, we received a call on our unlisted phone. It was a lady looking for my wife. Apparently, my wife had done some work for her several years back while working for Sears. This lady had called all the drapery shops in San Diego until she found Lela, a friend of my wife, who gave the lady our home phone number. We set up the appointment for me to go out the next day, December 24 at 9:00 a.m.

On the twenty-fourth, I loaded up all the drapery material samples into my Datsun station wagon. My wife wished me luck, and down the street I went. At the end of our block, you have to make a right turn in order to get to the main street. As I approached the end of the block, I put my foot on the brake pedal to slow down only to find out that I
