Context of Author
Hello, everyone. My name is Pastor Elvert C. Hunter, and I am sitting here at my desk, doing my best to be obedient to the Holy Spirit.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. (Romans 8:16 )
The Holy Spirit came to me about ten years after I started preaching and gave me a vision about one day being an author of some of the things that God has allowed to happen or to take place for the glory of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
All things work together for the good of them that love God, to them that are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
I always had a great fear in my heart about being an author of a book, fearing it would not be good enough for anyone else to read. I prayed on it, and the Lord informed me that He has not given us a Spirit of fear but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
I am writing this book not to build myself up, but in obedience. I never have sought after fame and glory especially since I have recommitted my life to the Lord. Yes, I know that many of you who feel like you know me may say, He has been a Christian all his life,
but you must ask yourself, Do I really know him or think I know him?
The Bible says this:
If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, all things become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Yes, I was baptized at eleven years old at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in the Colorado River. I strayed when I got to approximately twelve years old when I was made by my dad to follow my sisters when they went out to party. I still hadn't figured that out yet because I was too young to protect them and not old enough to party. But watch this; I had my chance to get introduced to drugs and alcohol by some of the guys they were dating and in some of the places we went. Needless to say, I was just beginning to get on the road to destruction. From that time until I got to be about thirty years old, I never realized I would encounter some things that would change my life forever. Please take the time to purchase (if you already haven't) this book and read it as thoroughly as you can. I know it will bless you, and I pray that I can say something to make a positive impact on your life.
God bless you.
