    Betty Box—Billy's sister; age nine; four feet, four inches tall; slender built; curly reddish-brown hair; loves to dress up; loves her mom and dad; excellent moral values; likes school and enjoys homework; churchgoer; always wears a great big smile; funny; has a great collection of Bellissima dolls; Billy's best friend.

    Boxer Box—Billy's dog; stands almost five feet, two inches high; has his own bed in Billy's room; loves to play with baseball bats; gentle as a lamb; loves children and ice cream—especially banana-blueberry.

    Benny—best ten-year-old athlete in town, African American, the practical joker of the bunch, wants to grow up to be a minister or an accountant.

    Becky—Betty Box's best friend, came to the United States from Belize when she was three months old, brightest and happiest of all Billy Box's friends, wants to grow up and have a huge family and own her own business

    Bersham—son of Rabbi Bok, loves to play chess through the mail with Billy's cousin Butch, loves dogs, wants to grow up and be chief of police.

    Bobby—confined to a wheelchair, best hitter in the Beanville Little League, believes that a miracle is going to happen in his life so that he can walk, when he grows up he wants to work with Billy helping poor people all over the world.

    Bart—the town bully.

    Officer Bryan Bothers—the kid's best friend; almost six feet, six inches tall; an honorary member of Billy Box's club, the Blocks.

    Fireman Buck—drives the biggest fire truck in the state, always has blueberry
