The Family
Billy Box—age ten; four feet, six inches tall; slender built; wavy reddish-brown hair; excellent moral values; loves his mom and dad; always wears sweaters and deck shoes; very good student; churchgoer; happy; friendly; likes to fish; honest; and one of the nicest people you ever want to know.
Betty Box—Billy's sister; age nine; four feet, four inches tall; slender built; curly reddish-brown hair; loves to dress up; loves her mom and dad; excellent moral values; likes school and enjoys homework; churchgoer; always wears a great big smile; funny; has a great collection of Bellissima dolls; Billy's best friend.
Boxer Box—Billy's dog; stands almost five feet, two inches high; has his own bed in Billy's room; loves to play with baseball bats; gentle as a lamb; loves children and ice cream—especially banana-blueberry.
Bertha Box—Billy's mom; very attractive lady about five feet, two inches tall; reddish-brown long straight hair; loves her husband and children; very active in her parent-teacher association and women's ministries at her church; last year voted Mom of the Year in her town; honest; outstanding cook; part-time teacher at a private school; loves to sit down with her family and read stories out loud.
Bernie Box—Billy's dad; tall—six feet, two inches; very strong; reddish-brown slightly curly hair; owns a laundry business; likes to fish; a deacon at his church; voted outstanding businessman by the chamber of commerce; loves his family very much; likes to read; loves to camp with his family in their motorhome.
The Neighborhood—Billy's Friends
Benny—best ten-year-old athlete in town, African American, the practical joker of the bunch, wants to grow up to be a minister or an accountant.
Becky—Betty Box's best friend, came to the United States from Belize when she was three months old, brightest and happiest of all Billy Box's friends, wants to grow up and have a huge family and own her own business
Bersham—son of Rabbi Bok, loves to play chess through the mail with Billy's cousin Butch, loves dogs, wants to grow up and be chief of police.
Bobby—confined to a wheelchair, best hitter in the Beanville Little League, believes that a miracle is going to happen in his life so that he can walk, when he grows up he wants to work with Billy helping poor people all over the world.
Bart—the town bully.
Officer Bryan Bothers—the kid's best friend; almost six feet, six inches tall; an honorary member of Billy Box's club, the Blocks.
