Biking to the Mountain

About this ebook
Five young boys were riding their bikes around the Orange Mound Community, they were so proud of those bikes. Michael and Marvin had new mountain bikes. The tires were quite large, and the handlebars were large enough to maintain a grip for safety measures. The bikes were a rainbow of colors. They had been told never to cross Park Avenue without adult supervision. Curiosity had gotten the best of them as they saw the large crowd composed of adults and children laughing and singing on the other side of Park Avenue.

I am most thankful to my Heavenly Father for allowing me to write this book. The thankfulness continues to my loving husband, Isaac; my four daughters, Carmen Yvette, Donna Mechelle, Toni Lynette (my Girl Friday), and Berta Maria. I live and breathe for my eight grandchildren and for my ten great-grandchildren. It is with love and affection that I extend my thankfulness to my extended family and all of my friends. The continued roster of the Greater New Shiloh Church family is ever present with memories of stern lectures and observant glances. To God be the glory for everything He has done in my life. Special thanks to my sons-in-law Kenneth and Julius for their patient and tolerant natures, to Dyron Boyd for helping bring my book’s vision to life through his illustrations, and to Mrs. Angela Lynette Faulkner for sharing the photograph that further propelled me to write this book.
It was still hot to be past six in the evening. A burst of oranges, yellows, and gold could be seen in the sky. The sun was just about to hide behind the horizon in the west. It would be dark soon.
