51 HAPPY YEARS
Sipping on my brew, round my neighbour’s house in July 2019, I stared down at the newspaper.
‘I could enter that,’ I said, while pointing at an advert on one of the pages.
‘The Beaverbrook’s Britain’s happiest couple competition?’ my neighbour asked. ‘Why don’t you?’
‘I haven’t got a computer to apply,’ I replied.
‘If you write it up, and I’ll copy it onto the computer for you,’ she said, encouragingly.
Thinking back to one Friday evening in 1960, I was 16 years old and working in a jeans making factory in Fleetwood, when everything began with my Barry.
I was invited to go and listen to some records with a group of youngsters my age.
