About this ebook
Do you ever wonder what your cat is thinking when he or she stares at you? How does your cat see the world or events in its life? Well, you are in for a surprise when you open Cat Tales. It contains four short stories about cats, three of them narrated by cats. The first is about an orange tabby cat and its life with two other, possibly oddball, cats in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The second story is about a calico cat living with two Golden Retrievers on a farm in Illinois and the problems they have had with uninvited visitors. The third takes us to Camden, Maine, and relates the exploits of a beautiful Maine Coon cat. Our last story takes us once again to Camden where we learn about the exploits of a cat sleuth named Agatha. Be prepared to chuckle when you read these lighthearted stories about felines so many of us love.

Schnapps
My name is Schnapps, and I am a five-year-old orange tabby cat. I am not sure who gave me my name, but it is what I have been called as long as I can remember. I was told that my name is derived from the German word Schnaps, which is used in reference to spirit drinks. Maybe I was a really spirited kitten, and that is why I was named Schnapps. I guess it is better than being called an orange name like Mandarin or Tangerine or, even worse, Navel. However, Clementine might not be such a bad name for an orange tabby cat like me. Hmm.
Well, my early childhood is a bit of a blur as it is for most youngsters. I don’t remember much about my mom or dad. When I was just a small kitten, an elderly lady found me and took me to a nearby animal shelter where I lived until I was five months old. My life at the animal shelter was really nice. I ate well, I had a nice cage, and, most of all, I got to play every day with either one of the staff or a volunteer. That is how I met my human dad, Don.
Don worked at the animal shelter twice a week. He always asked to play with me in the playroom. We bonded almost from the very beginning. He would scratch my chin, rub my stomach, and pet me. I loved to play with Don, especially the grab the feather
game.
Don told the staff that he might adopt me but that he would need to get the okay from his wife, Sherri. Don and Sherri already had two cats, and both were concerned about how things would work out with a third cat in the house. Well, he finally agreed to adopt me one Thursday morning while volunteering at the animal shelter.
I thought the big day would never come. To say I was excited about going to my forever home with Don was an understatement. However, before I left the shelter, I had to get shots and
