About this ebook

This book is about a man and his wife, their deep love for each other, and how it survived until death did they part. Then blind justice intervened. He was accused of killing his wife, the only love of his life. Justice did prevail in the end, which was much too late. I am sure a lot of people out there know about blind justice and broken dreams.

    Blind Justice & Broken Dreams

The train came to an abrupt stop, and the conductor said, Ladies, gents, a short stop ten minutes, we’ll resume.

It was the summer of 1816 when Marvell had left for the service at sixteen.

He returned four years later; the last two years were at war at Bleethville, Norac, being twenty now. He had a lot of life still left in him. In the year 1836, Marvell stepped down from the train, a cool breeze brushed his face, and the sun was shining on the sign Sliverville, Connecticut, est. 1801, population: one thousand.

Marvell thought to himself that it was nice to be home. He wanted to be somewhere quiet and relax for a week. He remembered someone had told him four years ago that there was a travel agency in Carson, thirty miles away had opened.

Marvell walked into the office, and he was greeted by a lady who said, My name is Tressie May Davidson.

May I help you? He took a long breath, for she was so beautiful—long red hair and pretty blue eyes. Marvell couldn’t help but stare and smile. Do you have any brochures?

She reached for four, Let me know if I can help you?

    He said, Thanks, I will.

A few moments later, he said, I’ll take this one to Kingsley, Tennessee. How long will it take to there from here?

    Four hours, she replied.

    How much for four weeks?

One-hundred fifty dollars for food, fishing, bed, cleaning service.

Marvell asked if he could cash his service check.

Tressie May said, No, but across the street, at Carson’s sign, there’s a restaurant, cashing checks, business office. They will for a small fee. Sorry, we only accept cash, Tressie May did not tell him she was from Kingsly, Tennessee. She never thought it was important at the time.

Meanwhile, across the street, he presented his check. The lady said, We charge $0.25 on a dollar, since you serve for our country, no charge.

He said, Thanks. He walked there, threw another door to get to the restaurant.

The flickering of the oil lamps, the music was so sweet, as he was listening, it brought back memories of a love long ago, that told him, "You might not come back from the war. Sorry, I just can’t wait
