    Dog is Man’s Best Friend

    40045.jpg

It has been said, that dog is man’s best friend.

    Even though there’s no relations,

There is a sensation, on each other they will depend.

When you need a brother, to tell your troubles to,

And he can’t be found, just look around,

    You’ll find that old hound.

A dog is one, you can confide, and tell your secrets to!

He want reveal, what’s in your closet,

Because he may be guilty too!

In comparing the two, if dog could wear a shoe,

I’m sure we could find his size.

    If he talked like man,

I’m sure, he would be caught in some lies.

They say, that birds of a feather, flocks together,

And if you lay down with a dog, you will get up with flees.

You may run rabbits, you may tree a coon,

Running around may be a habit,

But you will be coming home soon.

Lapping like a dog, was a test to man.

If he passed the lap, he could fight in the sand.

He had to prove himself worthy, to profess the land,

To walk like a dog, or stand up like a man.

Chapter 1: Me and My Shadow

    40047.jpg

Jasmine is sitting home alone thinking about her past. She is wondering how she made it, because the hell was oh so vast.

As she gazed out of her window precious memories flashed by of The Other Woman and her husband as the darkness draws nigh she began to stroll down memory lane.

It was a beautiful fall morning. The wind was blowing through the trees as Barbara, Martha, and Jasmine were enjoying the breeze. They were making plans for their big ladies night out!

The June Spears Trio was performing at Club Midtown. They were discussing what they were going to wear pants, skirts, dresses, or jump suits.

How they were going to fix their hair. Wig Queens, Weave Diva’s, Wave Crave, or Naturally Afro, and all of the accessories needed to glamorize their outfits.

Their most important decision was choosing the designated driver. Who was going to get wasted, and who was going to stay sober.

Neither of them really got Wasted, Wasted, but they would get a buzz. Life is too short to take chances, so they would alternate the responsibility of the key holder.

Hot times in the city. They were fine, and looking pretty. The Jazz Band was jamming down featuring Supreme, as the local vocalist. They were drinking, dancing, and clowning around.

The club was crowded, but people were still coming in! There were Doctors, Lawyers, Truck Drivers, Athlete’s, a man with a peg leg, and a set of un-identical twins. One was short, and the other one was tall.

In walks the man that will soon be known as Jasmine’s shadow.

He was tall, dark, and handsome, wearing a cowboy hat and a pair of alligator hide boots.

He had a close resemblance to Denzel Washington, and the ora of John Wayne. (The Duke)

He sat down at a table with three other men. Their body language said that they had been acquainted prior to their meeting tonight.

They were laughing, talking, dancing, and checking out the ladies. You know shooting the shit. (Telling Lies)

He finally approached their table and said, darling may I have this dance please?

Jasmine said, why sure honey. (Like May West)

Misty, was the song that they were playing, and he was singing right along with the band. Look my way!

He said, my name is Michael, what’s yours?

My name is Jasmine, she said!

Michael said, are you married Jasmine?

Jasmine replied, no I am not.

Michael said, are you romantically attached?

Jasmine said, no I am not.

Michael said, can you say anything other than no?

    Jasmine said, yes!

    They both chuckled!

Jasmine had been involved with a man by the name of Richard, but he was drafted into the army because of the war.

Jasmine had not heard from Richard in months now, but his mother said that she was still getting letters from him.

Therefore, Jasmine knew that Richard’s lack of writing to her was not due to a casualty of war! So Jasmine ass-u-me-ed that he was no longer interested in her. Don’t get me wrong, I have great respect for a man that cares for his mother, and for a man that fights for his country.

Martha was also dancing with a man from that same table, while Barbara was attending the drinks. You can’t be too careful! There are Mickies, and other date rape drugs out there.

When the song was over, Michael escorted Jasmine back to her table and he thanked her for the dance.

    Jasmine replied, you are welcome.

Jasmine could tell by the way Michael carried himself that this was someone that she wanted to get to know.

Michael kept looking at Jasmine from across the room, and Jasmine kept looking happily smiling and flirting back at him.

Michael pointed at the pretty dimples in Jasmine’s cheeks, and Jasmine noticed his big feet, and his long lengthy fingers too.

Jasmine asked Martha if she was interested in the man that she was dancing with?

Martha laughed and said, Hell No! You know Eddie would kill me if he thought I was involved with someone else.

    Barbara and Jasmine laughed.

Michael invited Jasmine to sit at his table. Jasmine gladly agreed. I’ll see you in a bit ladies, as she smiled and walked away.

Michael called the waitress and said, please bring this lady whatever she wants to drink, and I will have s shot of Cognac.

The band played an old song called Tuff, and then they invited everyone up to do the stroll. Men on one side, and ladies on the other. Take a step to the left, and then stroll down the middle.

Michael and Jasmine joined the line. That was fun to watch, especially as those dancers having too much to drink stumbled down the isle.

The hoochies were twisting, more bounce to the ounce, while looking for a victim they could pounce.

    Michael and Jasmine stayed
