Chapter 1
This is a story about a girl named Sue. Sue lives at home with both of her parents and her younger brother, Timmy. One morning, she was sitting down at the table having breakfast with her family like she normally does every morning, and she noticed that it was time for her to get ready to go to school. She was a senior in high school with good grades, and she was a well-liked person. All of her teachers thought very highly of her. Anyway, she left heading out of the door to leave for school.
She stopped by her friend Ellen’s house to pick her up like she would do every morning. So they drove on off to school. They were best friends, and they had one class together, which was English, and it was the last class of the day. They would meet up and have lunch together in the cafeteria with a couple of their friends, Tina and Tracy. It was a guy named Josh who also had lunch the same time as Sue and her friends. Now Josh was the type of person who would bully people whenever he felt like it. Josh wore black clothing every day, black eyeliner around his eyes, and he had long jet-black hair.
He picked on people who were scared to stand up to him. He mostly picked on boys who wore glasses and those who felt like they were outcasts. So one day, Sue saw him messing with this boy while they were all in the lunchroom; she went over to Josh and told him to leave the boy alone. Josh stopped, turned around, and just looked at Sue. I guess he was shocked that somebody was willing to stand up to him, so he and his two ghoulish-looking friends just walked away. So Sue went back to the table to finish having lunch with her friends. Ellen asked her, did she see the fliers that were posted up about a concert? Sue said no, she didn’t notice it.
Ellen showed her the flier of this popular band that was coming to town. Ellen asked Sue if she wanted to go with her to the concert. She said that she would love to go, but she had to get her parents’ permission. She told Ellen that she would ask her parents if she could go, then later on she would call her to let her know what her parents said. Ellen said OK and that she needed to know for sure later on in the week because the concert was this upcoming Saturday. So the bell rang for Sue and her friends to get to class. This was in the middle of the school day, so Sue went to gym class, and Ellen went to math class, and they said that they would talk later on when they went to their English class. So a couple of hours passed by, and they met up in English class, and that boy Josh also had the same class as them.
Now this was in the month of December, the last day of school before their Christmas vacation. Before class was dismissed, the teacher told all of the students to read the first three chapters in their books, and when they came back from Christmas vacation, they were going to have a test on what they read. Of course none of the students wanted to hear that, but they did have a week and a half to prepare for the test.
So the dismissal bell rang, then Sue and Ellen walked out of the classroom along with the other students, and Josh was waiting for Sue in the hallway, and he told her to watch her back. Then she told him that she was not scared of him and to move out of her way. So Josh stepped aside, then she and Ellen walked outside to the car.
Chapter 2
Sue dropped Ellen off at home, and she reminded her about the concert, and to let her know if she could go or not. Sue said OK, and that she would call her later on in the day. Sue drove on home, went in the house, and said hello to her family. Then she went upstairs to her room to put her schoolbooks away and went back downstairs to the kitchen to see if her mom needed help making dinner. So her mom told her that she could help her out with the dinner. Sue grabbed a knife and chopped up some vegetables for a homemade beef stew that her mom was preparing. So she asked her mom if it would be all right to go to a concert with Ellen and a couple of their friends from school, so naturally her mom wanted to know what day and time the concert was, so she told her that it was this upcoming Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. Her mom said that it was OK with her if she went, but she had to ask her father too, and to see if it was all right with him. Sue said OK.
Then she finished helping her mom with the dinner. Sue and her mom set the dining-room table, and about halfway through the meal, Sue asked her dad if she could go to the concert with Ellen. He asked her what time would the concert be over. She said that she didn’t know for sure. He was hesitant at first, but he told her that she could go, and to be careful. She smiled and said, Thanks, Dad. Thanks, Mom.
She finished her dinner, cleaned up the kitchen, then headed upstairs to her room to call Ellen to let her know that she could go. Ellen was happy to hear that Sue could go to the concert.
They talked about what they were going to wear and how they were going to style their hair. Ellen told Sue that a couple of guys from school were going to meet them at the concert. Their names were Billy and Tom. Sue really got excited about going, after Ellen told her that Billy would be there. She had a big crush on him. So several days passed, and it was Saturday, the day of the concert. The girls went shopping for a new outfit, and they also went to the salon to get their hair done. When they finished, Sue dropped Ellen off at home so that she could get ready for the concert. Sue went on home, and showed her mom what she bought from the store. Her mom smiled, and told her that she picked out a nice-looking outfit for the concert tonight. She was really looking forward to going and seeing Billy there.
A couple of more hours passed by, and it was time to leave for the concert. Ellen called Sue to let her know that she was on her way to pick her up. So she waited by the door, looking out of the window for Ellen. Sue saw Ellen pulling up in the driveway, so she told her parents that she was getting ready to leave, and then she walked outside heading to the car to get ready to leave for the concert. Ellen told her that she had to pick up their other two friends, Tina and Tracy, the girls that they regularly had lunch with in school, and then she said OK. Ellen went to pick them up, and then they drove on to the concert. So they got there, and the two boys from school, Billy and Tom, were waiting for them by the door. They all went inside together where the band was playing, so that they could get as close to the stage as possible. So they managed to work their way through the crowd to get up close to the stage, and they all had a good time.
Of course Josh was there with his two friends just looking at Sue with an evil eye, but he wasn’t going to say anything to her because she was surrounded by her friends. So as the night went on, Sue noticed that she was an hour late past curfew, so she told Ellen that she needed to get her home as soon as possible. Sue gave Billy her phone number and told him to call her real soon, then she gave him a kiss on his cheek, and then they left. Sue was dropped off at home first, and she was hoping that her parents were not still up waiting for her. She tried to unlock the door quietly and go upstairs without her parents catching her. She walked up the stairs very carefully, trying not to make any noise, but what Sue didn’t realize is that her younger brother Timmy saw her trying to sneak into her room without anyone seeing her. So Timmy went back into his room, but Sue never saw him. She thought that no one saw her trying to sneak into her room, so she exhaled and plopped down on her bed. The next day, Sue and Timmy were getting ready to head downstairs for breakfast with the family, and before they could get down the stairs, Timmy told Sue that he saw her trying to sneak into the house last night, so she asked him to keep quiet about it, but Timmy said that she had to pay him thirty dollars in order for him to keep quiet. So she went back into her room to get the money, then she handed it to him and told him that he better not say anything. So they went on downstairs to breakfast and sat down at the table with their parents. Sue’s mom asked her how the concert was. She said that it was great and that she really had a good time. So Sue got through with breakfast, and was planning on meeting Ellen later at the pizza parlor.
Later on that night, Billy called Sue to ask her if she wanted to go out on a double date with Ellen and Tom. She said sure, so they made arrangements to go out together the following Saturday night. She got off the phone with a big smile on her face. She called Ellen to let her know that Billy had called her to ask her out on a date. She told Ellen that Tom was planning on calling her to ask her out too. So while the girls were on the phone, Tom buzzed in on the other line and asked Ellen if she wanted to go out with him next week. Ellen was smiling, and she told him that she would love to go out with him, so she clicked back over to the other line to tell Sue that Tom was on the phone and that he asked her out, so she told Sue that she would talk to her later because she was going to talk to Tom for a while. Then Sue said, OK, I’ll talk to you tomorrow,
so the girls hung up, then Ellen clicked back over on the other line to finish talking to Tom. A week passed by, and they all went
