The Mountain and Valley People - Tina DeMelfi-Warner
Chapter 1
A Valley of People with Wonder
Once upon a long, long time ago, there were two types of people: the valley people and the mountain people. It was known to the valley people that the mountain people were high-class and would have nothing to do with the lower class, a.k.a. (also known as) the valley people. This rumor was one that the valley people were brought up with and did not even dare to deviate from. People in the valley had a saying that ruminated from generation to generation, People who live in glass houses are doomed to fail.
The people of the valley believed that the people of the mountain were these individuals who lived in glass houses.
One day, there was this little girl who did not understand why she believed what she did but was taught that she was a good girl who was going to make it big in this world someday. Her name was Julianna D. W. Her mother was very stern about her being able to do all the housework, gardening, homework, and work outside the house to help bring in money for bills. Her father was quite a hard worker. He would take on a couple of jobs if need be, so his wife could stay home with the kids. Julianna also had quite the work ethics but always wondered what it would be like to have it all and not have to work for it. Julianna thought that the mountain people must have it all and not have to work for a living but was also scared that they lived in glass houses, so they would fail. She definitely did not want to fail; she wanted to be a success and to please her parents.
The siblings of Julianna were John, Steven, Mark, and Henry. They were four brothers who loved their little sister but were also very bossy and protective of her. The brothers had a saying that they could pick on their sister but no one else could. While being very protective of their sister, they were also very demanding of her. They believed that, if they were going to play ball, she had to be the person who carried the balls, bats, and bases. They believed that this would teach her how to be sufficient in providing for herself when she became of age. If the boys were going ice-skating, it was Julianna’s job to make sure that all the ice skates were sharpened and had good laces so there would not be any delay or falls on the ice.
While attending school, Julianna would volunteer for
