    Preface

Many people believe that the public school system offers the best education at the lowest cost. Unfortunately, this belief is incorrect. The way the public school system is today has become a great cost to society, however not financially, but to our children. While idealistic views of school administrators, principals, and teachers flood the system, many of our children are lost amidst the rhetoric. Everything ranging from test scores to teaching strategies sounds good and looks good on paper but none of these are affecting successful change in American students’ performance. This book is a cry to parents: stop trusting the public school system with the education of our children.

As parents, this responsibility is ours. Schools and teachers are to help guide our children in the mandated standards while offering resources to help our children succeed. We are blessed to have such a system in place; however, it is up to us, as parents, to work with teachers and administrators so that our children get the most out of their public school education. The ideas and concepts expressed in this book are solely the opinion of this writer.
