About this ebook

This is actually my own transcribed journal from late 2009, 2010, and early 2011. This was a time of terrible crisis for me and my family.

To list them, our children were taken away from us for two months, our son went to jail, my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and I lost my business of twenty-two years; these occurred in a three-month period.

This was also the best time of my life. Our Father in heaven came to me in this dark time and showed me how these personal crises are great opportunities for victory the simple way He showed me about thankfulness and its application. Summer 2009, when these very difficult things were occurring, is when God the Father began showing the way of thanksgiving. This way turned that terrible time into the best of my life. I call that summer "the summer of life."

My intention for you is to find a way to deal with all things in life, good, bad, or neutral, through the stories in this book. I had no idea, at the time, I entered these stories in my journal that the journal as a whole is a comprehensive how-to manual. It is very simple to learn this way of thanksgiving, almost too simple. May the grace of thankfulness inundate every soul on earth.

    Acknowledgments

I want to dedicate this book to Mrs. Nan Weber; without her encouragement, I would never have completed this book.

How can our earth become heaven? Is it even possible? For many of us, this seems unrealistic. I want to share with you a way that this can happen. This way has a name and a formula of action, which is fluid and adjustable to any person. The name of what I speak of is the way of thanksgiving. This way is very simple and, at the same time, is so rich and full it's never-ending in its depth, and it can transform the life of anyone who is willing to give it a go.

Now I was given this way twelve years ago in the summer of 2009; I call it the summer of life. Multiple tragedies were occurring in my life at that time. To list them, our children were taken from us for two months, my son went to jail, my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and I lost my business of twenty-two years.

Now, this is the first step that was taken to learn this way of thanksgiving. One morning that summer, as these terrible things were happening, I lay in my bed and cried for about an hour and a half. As I cried, I was expressing my regret and sorrow to God for allowing an atmosphere in my home that was not positive or healthy. Not that I was directly responsible for all that was occurring, my sorrow was for my negative behavior. God gave me this grace to be truly sorry for my faults, and I was.

He left me in this quagmire of depression and sorrow for about three weeks after; it seems that God wanted me to remember these sorrows. I tell you this sad story in hopes that whatever your situation is, as you will soon see, this way of thanksgiving can and will produce wonderful results out of even very bad situations.

So in late August of that summer, I started waking up at three in the morning and realized I wasn't going to go back to sleep any time soon, and God started giving me these stories or parables, which I instinctively wrote down in a journal. I know this all sounds kind of squirrely, but that's what happened.

These parables helped me, and hopefully, you learn and understand this way of thanksgiving, they are numbered, and many of them have titles as to their particular use. Now I am Catholic, but I assure you that if you read on and are willing to be sorry for your mistakes and will apply the lessons of these stories, a whole new world will open up to you regardless of whether you are Catholic or any Christian denomination or Muslim or Buddhist or atheists, this way of thanksgiving will transform anyone's life.

So let's get started, I will give some explanation to some of these stories, and hopefully, this will give a clear understanding and a way for you to use these lessons in your life.

    Part 1

(Some of these insights were written before the summer of 2009) August 15, 1988 (Conversion).

    Feast of the Assumption

My wife asked me to go down to Lubbock, Texas. She told me she would go with our son's godmother and that I should drive down after I finished work on the fifteenth. She said there would be twenty thousand people there to witness miracles. But we would meet at the church, her and I; I wondered how that would work (this was long before cell phones), and I thought to myself, What good could come from Lubbock, Texas?

After work on the fifteenth at 1:00 p.m., I got in the car to drive down there; on my way down there, I used a pamphlet on how to pray the rosary; I didn't know how. When I got there, I saw priests hearing confessions outside the church, so I went to one and confessed to smoking with no real intention of quitting. I'd only been Catholic for one year and four months; I did not understand many of the truths of the church. When I got up from confession, I reached in my pocket and pulled out a silver rosary chain-wood beads (a gift from my mother-in-law when I became Catholic); at that moment, the silver turned to gold on the links of the rosary as I looked at it. Then I turned and looked at the crowd, and everyone was looking at the sun and pointing, so I pushed my way into the crowd. I turned and looked at the sun and saw the Eucharist over the sun—which protected my eyes—I heard these words inside of me, This is my Son, the Light of the World, as filtered through His body from the altar (golden light).

I also saw twelve small clouds around the sun and soon realized that these were not clouds but angels in
