Amazing Grace - Brenda Ann Futch

    Alpha

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

—John 1 New International Version (NIV)

As you begin this journey, God will reveal Himself to you. Write down your every prayer request and the answers that God reveals to you. As you journal, you will feel the power and presence of God in your daily life. As you search for Him, spend that quiet intimate time with Him.

You will see your life change as you feel the warmth of His embrace, as His Holy Spirit guides you into all truth. As you read His Words, you will see that you are His masterpiece that He has created with splendor and awe.

    Blessings to you.

    Grace,

    Brenda Ann Futch

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

    —Hebrews 4:16

    What Is Grace?

There is a misconception in the minds and hearts of some of what Grace is. Grace is receiving something that we do not deserve; unmerited favor. God is abundant in grace and mercy and God’s greatest act of grace is the gift of salvation that is available for all people through faith (Ephesians 2:8–9). When we except God’s gift, eternal life is promised to the receiver; eternal life is a promise of being with God in heaven, and the promise to the believer is sealed with the Holy Spirit that one day Jesus Christ will return to earth to claim His purchased possession (Ephesians 1:12–14, 4:30). Jesus purchased every sinner with His own blood that was shed on Calvary.

Grace is the very essence of God’s heartbeat. From the very beginning, God showed us grace and mercy. Through his fingertips and the very still voice as He spoke all things into being. He gave us His heart when He gave us His love, He gave us grace.

    Shelter in Your Love

Sweet surrender, I find comfort in your love,

    Sweet surrender.

As the storms blow, and the winds caress my face,

Tossing me to and fro, I find shelter in your love…

I seek the perfect hiding place of your warm embrace.

I find shelter in your love.

As the trees bow down in sweet surrender,

Their long boughs gently protecting me in the shelter of your love.

In the midnight hours as tears do flow,

I find sweet surrender in the shelter of your love.

As I seek the perfect hiding place, I find shelter in your love.

There is a place when we are in pain, we seek God’s protection, and we seek His love and mercy. Often in the book of Psalms David cried out to God for His protection, for God’s mercy:

I cry out to you, Lord. You are my rock; don’t refuse to hear me. If you won’t talk to me, I’ll be just like those going down to the pit. Listen to my request for mercy when I cry out to you, when I lift up my hands to your holy inner sanctuary. Don’t drag me off with the wicked and those who do evil; the type who talk nice to their friends while evil thoughts are in their hearts! Pay them back for what they’ve done! Pay them back for their evil deeds! Pay them back for their handiwork! Give back to them exactly what they deserve! Because they have no regard for what the Lord has done, no regard for his handiwork, God will tear them down and never rebuild! Bless the Lord because he has listened to my request for mercy! The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart trusts him. I was helped, my heart rejoiced, and I thank him with my song. The Lord is his people’s strength; he is a fortress of protection for his anointed one. Save your people, God! Bless your possession! Shepherd them and carry them for all time! (Psalm 28, CEB)

Do you have the faith and confidence in God’s Word as did Abraham to trust God without question?
