Poems From the Pasture - April Tully

    Be still my soul

    Troubles troubles swirling round

Inside my head and heart I shake

Then I lay upon the floor

with knees beneath and then I pray

I quiet down my soul and lo

    I notice a re-centering

I am a pilgrim heading home

And so my heart beats normally

    A Path of Gold

I came across a path of gold

It bid me come and see

All the treasure from of old

Which are laid up for thee

I shook my head in disbelief

How can there be a way

A way of riches for my soul

    When I am poor today

Then my Lord appeared to me

    Upon that path of gold

He said, this path is not for you

    To walk on all alone

Invite the poor, the weak, and sick

To join this path with you

And I will walk alongside your soul*

To lead you in the truth

But though this path of my provision

    Is full of riches sweet

    Never sit and get comfortable

    Stay up upon your feet

And give and give and give and give

    Till nothing else remains

And I will meet you with a crown

Of gold for you one day

And remember this when all else fades

    It’s love that will remain

    Lesson of a Bird

    Rain falling

    Falling hard

    Wind heavy

    Unseen stars

    Thunder roaring

    Leaves torn off

    Branches breaking

    Lightning bolt

    Wind dying

    Rain has stopped

    Sky clearing

    Moon is out

    Getting ready

    To lie down

    But ears hearing

    A lovely sound

    The sound is cheering

    ’Tis the song

    Of a bird thanking

    Thanking God for the storm

    What a lovely bird

    What a lesson learned

    Learned from a bird

    Come

    A river streaming

    As crystal from the throne

    Like water in the desert

    Flowing from the stone

    Will quench the thirst

Of the soul who is God’s home

    But will also do so

To the one who is alone

To the one who is rejoicing

To the one who has no song

    To all the impatient

And the one who suffers long

To the one who is right

To the one who is wrong

    To all who thirst

    The Lamb says "Come

And drink from the river of Life"

    All You Can Do

    You may accuse

    But you cannot bruise

    All that you’ve said

    Is all in my head

    For I am restored

    And the past is no
