    Introduction

I feel the wind of the spirit drawing and a quiet voice of the Lord calling. It’s catching my attention even though we are all so distracted by the pressures and pleasures of life. Anything to keep our minds busy and off the negative feelings of everyday struggles. The Lord reached down one day and spoke to me, I want you to lay everything down and come be with me for a season. I want you to trust me. For everyone, it’s a different time for different reasons, but the season is the same. It’s a time of healing, a time of change, and a time for a deeper commitment.

I have always felt I was moving in a way that allowed the Lord to lead and reign in my life; however, I always knew there was more. The Lord was requiring more of me. He is requiring more of you. It is simple to say yes but not easily achieved. I am wondering what is the more, what is the requirement, what must change, knowing there is always deeper freedom. Reach out for your deeper commitment, and allow the free fall toward Him as He always catches and springs you forward to do things way beyond your own ability as you walk in His ability.

I am sharing what the Lord spoke to me during this time of solitude with Him. So many things God has to offer, if only we would listen. After many months, the Lord spoke to me and said, I have called you out to bring you in. I feel very strongly that this is a word to the body of Christ. We are entering a different time in which the Lord is needing us to step up higher and give Him a little more of ourselves. He is calling warriors to come forth. Who will heed the call? We are taken to the winepress for purity to come forth. Such exposure of the heart can be painful yet healing. I feel the crushing wave of sacrifice that brings forth true and strong warriors. They will arise. Are you one of them? I know I want to be.

This is a transitional time in our lives, the most wonderful thing to be connected to the Creator of the universe who knows the beginning to the end. Allow Him to wash over you as you read. Let Him draw out the impurities and fill you with purity and promise. Let Him lead you from the tent to the palace. A place where we thought we were good, but the Lord says, Oh, I have a place for you, a higher place where I will draw you closer to me.

Set your mind and heart to be drawn out from the old and brought into the new. Be refreshed, enlightened, and encouraged as the Lord takes you on a journey. A place where only you and He can go. The Lord would say, Come unto Me all you who labor so hard and are so tired. Come unto Me, and let Me give you rest for your soul and health to your flesh. Drink from the living water that I alone provide, and your thirst will be forever quenched.

    Marked by Heaven

    Chapter 1

    Forever Marked…

I was sitting outside, and the wind was blowing, the temperature so refreshing. The sky is blue, and the birds are singing. With all the beauty, there is a sense of heaven that truly reigns in our hearts as we contemplate our relationship with a Heavenly Father. One who is so good and faithful. You sit and soak in His goodness and thankfulness begins to arise within your soul. I am reminded that the goodness of God draws all men to repentance; I know it did me. When all the world around me was in chaos and confusion, I was introduced to a God whom I always knew was there but just could not quite reach the fullness of. You, like me, have been on a journey with the Lord. We are all brought from different places and have different stories, but a story all the same.

I would like to take you on a continued journey as we walk in different seasons and times until we depart from this earthly sphere. This journey is one in which we will be called out to be brought into a deeper realm that is prepared for us. There is always more with the Lord, and this will be one of those more times. I have felt the tug of the spirit to begin to prepare for that which is to come. We must prepare for our position so we won’t be caught unaware. If we continue with the busyness the world is offering, we will find ourselves unprepared for our specific purpose on earth.

For me personally, the Lord called me out of the workforce for a time. For you, it might be something different. It could be a walk every day with just you and Him, it could be morning devotions that have been overlooked for a season, or it could be an afternoon break with you and a notepad to write down what the Lord has to say. I would encourage you to ask the Lord for yourself personally, because if you are reading this, the Lord is calling you out to bring you to a deeper place in Him. He has something to say to you, and you must listen.

When God touches your life, you are marked forever. It’s a marking that is personal, private, and eternal. No one can give it, and no one can take it; it’s supernatural. A purpose and design that fills your heart. Ask the Lord for your marking which will go on to mark others for their assigned task—marked for His glory, marked to carry, to run in, to walk in; it’s a power from on high. Everything must bow to that mark, the mark of glory. The mark of something higher, the mark of the Creator.

You cannot explain it, but you feel it, and it leads you to places that only the mark can go. I am forever changed. Everyone has their own mark. I cannot wear yours, and you cannot wear mine. We have access to the kingdom realm, and this is where everything changes. I am given my assignment that is always bigger than me. I can only accomplish the task with His presence. Take courage in what the Lord speaks over your life, let it mark you, and never let go. Lean into Him, and you will hear His directions.

As you grow, share what you learn with others. Excuses keep us from our destiny. The Lord does not want our excuses; He wants our life. Some are marked easily; some must think about it. When Zachariah was told he and Elizabeth would have a baby (John the Baptist), he struggled believing. He had been marked for a miracle but had to be silenced for months so he wouldn’t speak against what the Lord had spoken. He eventually came to grip with the truth, and his miracle was born in his older years. Mary (mother of Jesus) was marked, and she spoke out: Be unto me as you have said. She accepted her marking quickly. God shows up, and we decide to receive or become mute. Mary says yes and amen! Zachariah had to think about it. I had to think about mine, but now nothing and no one can take it from me.

We must decide to step out into the deep, the unknown with God’s Word, with His marking. A place where every high thing must come down. Our thinking must change to see the supernatural manifest. Don’t be bullied into silence. Learn your new language from heaven which is full of life. We live in a culture where there is a lot of information but little transformation. When you are marked, you will begin to see the transformation. Your life will look different and feel different. More of God is now understood which requires more surrender. We can now step up to pray for scary prayers. Prayers that will need a supernatural touch. When we face what we fear, you become fearless because you have been marked. The kingdom now forms my words. Mountains are moved, and I must grab tight. Every demon in hell will try to steal the mark, but it’s too late; the mark is too deep.

The mark brings you to a place in life where nothing else matters. Realizing that Jesus is all I need to succeed. He has all the answers and is all wisdom. When wounded, I come to his feet, open my heart, and remember He is enough, and all else falls into place. He is the ultimate goal. There are just some things you cannot see until you bow. It brings the silent war inside to a strength that cannot be matched.

Did the mark cost you, or did it save you? As we examine our life, sometimes we rationalize how a different turn in the road would have shaped my life. Different choices, different decisions, or a different direction. However, the Lord spoke to me one day and said, Did it cost you, or did it save you? I pondered that thought, realizing the road I chose shaped me, molded me, and marked me forever for His glory; so how could I change that? As I thought of the apostles in the Bible, I wondered how many times they might have pondered that thought as they were beaten, wounded, crucified, and rejected. Once I acknowledge the truth, I begin to walk out a Godly life. If I ignore the truth, I will live any way I choose. Does the truth cost me or save me or maybe both?

Paul and Titus had traveled to Crete to evangelize. Paul stayed a short time and left Titus to complete the work. This was a place with very unpleasant people. The Bible states the Cretans were unruly, vain talkers, deceivers, and lovers of money.

Titus 1:10–12 says, For there are many insubordinates, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole household, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of dishonest gain. One of them, a prophet of their own, said, Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.

Titus had been marked by his travels. Traveling and dwelling in very uncomfortable places with unthankful people will cost you. It cost him, all right. It cost him surrender, which saved him in the end. I think of marking as branding. There are heat and pressure applied until surrender comes forth. Such reward with surrender. Nothing is for nothing in this life. God always rewards and brings blessings; He is a good God.

I lay down for a nap one day and heard the Lord speak to my spirit and say, There is a silent war within you. As I began to think about those words, I realized there was. Nothing I really spoke about or showed outwardly, but a war all the same. There was a battle going on concerning a specific situation in my life between the flesh and the spirit. Who would win? I quietly laughed as I knew who would win, eventually my spirit.

Life brings us challenging situations in which we are constantly having an opportunity to choose God’s way over my own. Do you ever feel like there is a silent war going on inside? No one knows or understands; it’s a time between making a choice. It’s a time of growing. Once we receive a revelation, there is a responsibility to walk it out which will bring freedom and blessing. The Lord is bringing me out of myself, my ideas, my reasonings into a place of His thoughts, ways, and ideas. Don’t we need that!

Demons are always at war with us, and we feel it. The spirit of God always wins if we allow it. Dying to self and growing in the Lord is easy, just not painless. It’s a tearing down of walls we have spent years building to protect ourselves. I am learning to pray and trust with a knowing that He does respond, maybe not my way or my time; but He hears, and I shall always come forth as gold.

The requirements of us sometimes seem too much to bear, but the Lord comforts us and sends us on our way to conquer. We are warriors, not babies. We may fall, but we always get up and keep moving. We are warriors. The Lord has a job to complete on earth, and it will be completed through the power of the Holy Spirit. I only fail when I war in the power of self. There is no power more powerful than the Lord—none! Through Him, I am always a conqueror. Through Him, I always have victory.

God brings us other warriors at times to fight with us. I know recently I had been hit hard and couldn’t seem to get my victory. It was a mental war when my mind was bombarded with thoughts of failure and a sense to quit. I attended a ministry convention and was assigned to a small group. We were told to get partners and begin to pray for each other. A sweet lady named Maleah walked up to be my partner and began to pray for me. I did not know her, but the Lord used her powerfully in my life! We prayed together and left to go back to the convention. As I was walking back, I realized how free I felt. I was so overwhelmed with thankfulness because I had been dealing with this for months with no release. One prayer that lasted about five minutes set me free! Thank you, Maleah, for praying for me and being obedient to the Lord. We are to be an encourager of the brethren; so look for opportunities to pray, uplift, and encourage each other.

We live in a very dishonoring society. It fills our heart and mind so strongly that strongholds are built in our minds of wrong thinking and reasoning. Dishonor will bring trouble and destruction in your life. I found that if I honor God more than myself, life becomes more peaceful and blessed. When I honor God, He will always bring others for me to honor on earth. If I try to war flesh on flesh, anxiety and depression soon follow. It is the silent war inside us that determines the outward actions. Once my mind is renewed to the Word of God, strongholds begin to be broken over my life. For example, if I am employed, I work as unto the Lord. I must complete daily tasks to the best of my ability whether the supervisor or owner sees me or not. If I begin to reason and complain thinking I am not getting paid enough and the company does not appreciate me, my work ethics take a negative turn, and I reason in my mind it’s all right because they don’t treat me good enough. My mind needs to be renewed. I either do the job or get another one. Complaining and poor workmanship keep me in bondage. So there is a silent war inside of me on whether to work as unto the Lord or not. As I make wrong decisions, strongholds begin to build in my mind. Soon, every job I receive, I have a bad attitude and look for all the negative instead of being thankful for a job. Another example, people feeling sorry for themselves. I have had to break this in my own life. I am not a victim. I am victorious in all things! I had to break strongholds in my mind which always told me I was never good enough or smart enough. God designed us, and we are each created with a great design. We are all precious in His sight, so whose sight am I looking through? We need to control and manage our minds. Is it a container of trash; or are they power, love, and a sound mind? I must step out of the old and be brought into the newness of His Spirit.

Faith is courage and it comes as you hear God speak to you. I hear God speak quietly to my spirit.
