Apostolic Poems - Deacon Jerry Shilling

    Foreword

God's greetings and blessings to you, dear reader, in the name of Jesus Christ. Thank you for deciding to spend some of your time with this work. Your time is precious and valuable, and we only have so much on this Earth. It is fervently desired, hoped, and prayed for that after reading this book you will have no qualms or fear about where you will spend eternity. God's one and only true plan of salvation is found in these pages, and if you obey and follow the plan, it will keep you joyful and satisfied through the ages of eternity.

Some of you may already know and be practicing the true concepts found between these covers. For you it is hoped to find some comfort, joy, and peace to help you as we journey through this vale of tears before we reach our heavenly reward.

In either case, thank you again for sharing your precious time. In these pages you can find courage, solace, and strength for your journey. May God bless you abundantly!

    Again

    Regretting & Ruing Repeated Reveling

I woke up and wondered whose house I was in,

I thought and pondered but forgot where I'd been.

Inside my head pounded I knew why because,

I had many brandies and tonics and gin.

Where was the car, was it far, from where I was?

Oh no I did it again... oh no I did it again.

Who did the driving? Where am I arriving?

I know that I have done this more than one time.

I can't help myself need to do something else,

It's really not fun when I'm so out of line,

Many times before I quit thought I'd be fine,

Oh no I did it again... oh no I did it again.

The shape I was in I certainly hated,

Sometimes I'd be good but then hesitated.

Drinking and drugging went on unabated.

Also the cursing and drinking and gambling,

To feed these yearnings far I would go ambling,

Oh no I did it again... oh no I did it again.

One day I heard a voice say I must repent,

Be baptized in Jesus' name, be all sin relent.

Get the Holy Ghost speak a tongue not my own,

Don't do it I'll never make Heaven my home.

To Jesus now I pray, no more have to say,

Oh no I did it again... oh no I did it again.

    Are You There God?

Sorrow For The Lost, Personal Improvement Prayer

    Are you there, God?

    Are you really there?

    Sometimes I wonder.

    Do you care, God?

    Do you really care?

    For us here under?

    When people to other people,

Steal and rob and defraud and plunder,

And when some folks do lack,

There are others who just won't share.

Some have so much they're not able,

To spend it all even if they live long.

The poor will be with us,

    Forever that is no fable.

Lord, please help me to see in truth,

There is really nothing totally mine.

Let it start in my youth,

Help me your true blessings to find.

    Take away selfishness and greed,

Get rid of my pride, it's nothing I need.

    Let me not be uncouth,

And of salvation sow a seed.

    Are you there, God?

    Are you really there?

    Sometimes I wonder.

    Do you care, God?

    Do you really care?

    For us here under?

    Some hurt some others on-purpose,

Think just of self, to others be callous.

Been that way a long time,

It's now way past time for a change.

Some things need to be rearranged,

To think really hard all life is precious.

    I know you're in control,

    Nothing happens you don't allow.

Help me to be much more grateful,

And even more closely you to follow.

I do need for the end,

To trust only you and depend.

Don't ever let me be spiteful,

And know that for myself I cannot fend.

    I'm glad you
