    Prologue

In the matter of our world today and its concerns, no one wants to hear about the ozone layer or any other damaging things that can happen to our earth, let alone a planet that is becoming unbalanced as we know it. But we consider our world the best in our galaxy because we are self-contained with air, water, and life where there are no other planets, or not as far as we know to this day, that can sustain human life.

Now most people that pass through life as they go only think of their world as having the sun, moon, and stars. But scientists, of course, think far beyond us for sure. Now, as we find more and more exoplanets, thousands have indeed been found as we probe our telescopes deeper into space beyond the sun. Hoping mankind can, indeed, find an earth-like world like our own that is within our reach.

But anyone that ponders upon the night sky knows that anything is a possibility. We now know that our universe has a large comprised structure, and anything could happen out there. Now the galaxies indeed are still a mystery as we look at the vast sheets surrounding enormous cosmic voids.

Many solar planets have been confirmed, indeed, as we keep searching. Black holes are not empty spaces in our universe. A black hole is so strong with its gravitational field that nothing can escape it, not even light. It is a great mass of matter packed into a very small area, indeed.

Now, if you were to strike a match, it would burn as long as it has oxygen. But if you were to put a glass over a candle, it will make it go out indeed. Of course, everyone knows this. Some say, Where does the sun get its oxygen from? Science says the sun continuously explodes gases that make it burn. But who’s to say. It would indeed be neat if there was oxygen out there somewhere that was strong enough to push its way into our universe to create a new world into our galaxy for human life to live on. Is there oxygen fluids within the sun? But like I said, who’s to say indeed.

Now the year is 2060, and we are not even out of the twenty-first century yet. But new ideas and science has changed our world considerably. Many scientists think the sun may be getting closer to earth than they had guessed. They think that some form of oxygen or gases may be pushing it closer, that it may cause our world to become unbalanced and may destroy our magnetic field of hold—not to consider how hot our planet will become.

The Main Character in This Story

Dr. Shany is a world-renowned scientist. Dr. Bokk, Dr. Laurel, a want-to-be scientist named Sandstop, and his friends EJ and Ticker all work for Dr. Shany. Mrs. Sharo and Len-Dee are their secretaries. Now Dr. Shany is the top scientist of the world’s largest science lab. It is indeed the most advanced in this time period of 2060.

It all starts one morning in the city of Denver, Colorado, at Ronchek Science and Research Center. And, indeed, we have moved forward in this century. We now have flying cars and buses to move about our cities. Our laser roadways make it easier and faster for mankind to move around in this fast-paced world of ours. The automatic landing pads that slide in and out of every building make it easy to land and to walk into our automatic win-door on every level of our space-age high rises. But we still have our larger modern aircrafts that fly our skies. And, of course, we still have our old streets and highways with fewer automobiles on them. Our laser roadways hover over our old streets and highways about six to eight hundred feet above the ground, cutting down on heavy traffic. We seem to be living a little better life with not so much honking at each other anymore. And there are less accidents causing insurance to be at a very low rate, which is good for everyone indeed.

Now, Dr. Bokk is a scientist who lives in Dallas, Texas. He has been asked by Dr. Shany to come to Ronchek to help in the research of our sun that is indeed coming too close to us. Back in Denver, in Dr. Shany’s office, his secretary Mrs. Sharo reminds Dr. Shany that he must go down and pick up his new Spirt-Runner, one of the newest flying cars on the market. It has four engines, one on each wing, and is the fastest in the air. Now, passing a flying car in the air is called zipping. Zipping is where one car flies over the top of another very fast. Our skills in driving have indeed gone up.

Okay, Mrs. Sharo, I’ll go just as soon as I am done with this document. Thanks, said Dr. Shany. The document was to be sent to the president of the United States.

As Dr. Shany leaves to go pick up his new car, he tells Mrs. Sharo, Be sure this letter gets in the mail right away, please.

Okay, I will, sir, replied Mrs. Sharo.

Upon his arrival at the dealership, he finds out his new car will not be ready until the next day, of course, so he heads back to his office, knowing Dr. Bokk will be arriving soon.

Now Dr. Bokk and his assistant Sandstop arrive at the research lab to get checked in. It is a very strict facility. Dr. Shany arrives back at the lab about the same time as Dr. Bokk. Dr. Bokk introduces his assistant to Dr. Shany. Well, gentlemen, are you ready to go at it? asked Dr. Shany.

Yes, sir, indeed. I have some of my findings that I would like for you to see, replied Dr. Bokk.

Good, said Dr. Shany. We have no time to lose.

As they go into the lab, Dr. Bokk shows him some of the different temperatures that may be coming soon. Well, sir, I’ve been keeping records by the minute on our temperatures, and it’s not good. But I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that, stated Dr. Bokk.

Yes, I know. I’ve written a letter to the president trying to explain what is going to happen in the next five months, and we need to come up with a solution for mankind indeed. In as little as five months, we may have a state of emergency sooner than we may think, replied Dr. Shany.

We’ve been keeping an eye on our highly visible magnetic level indicators that show us the precise level of heat transfer fluids, thermal, and glycol. It will give us a reading right down to the cubic centimeter, sir, said Dr. Bokk.

Good, said Dr. Shany. We are also having atmospheric pressure changes on our planet as the sun comes closer to us, it seems.

    Day Two

Dr. Bokk and Sandstop are looking and studying the universe and changes that are beginning to take place. Things are starting to happen sooner than they had originally thought. The sun has come closer to our earth. We must find Dr. Shany and tell him right away. Things are going to get pretty warm, I’m afraid, said Dr. Bokk.

But they are not the only ones that have noticed it. China, South America, Europe, and others all over the world have seen the rise in the temperatures. Now, scientists from all over the world are turning to Dr. Shany for answers. The phones are ringing off the wall, they all say.

Dr. Shany tells everyone, We will be having a universal meeting in Denver in three days. Every scientist of the world should attend this meeting so we can see if we can resolve anything or develop new ideas that can indeed help our planet.

In the meantime, Mrs. Sharo tells Dr. Shany, The dealership called again. They are saying your new car is ready this time.

Okay, thank you, Mrs. Sharo. I will go pick it up this morning, replied Dr. Shany.

Ronchek Science and Research Center in Denver, Colorado, at 9:00 a.m. The phone rings in Dr. Laurel’s office, and Mrs. Sharo answers. But in the meantime, Dr. Shany has told Dr. Laurel he’s going to go by his house first and then to the dealership.

Now, General Ran is on the other end telling Mrs. Sharo he would like to speak with Dr. Shany. Okay, please hold. I think he just left. I will go and see, said Mrs. Sharo. Minutes later, she came back and tells him he has already left.

Now, General Ran tells her that the president will be arriving at 10:00 a.m. He tells her to tell Dr. Shany to be there.

Now, knowing you don’t get a call from the president every day, Mrs. Sharo asks if this was some kind of a joke.

Believe me, ma’am, said General Ran, this is not a joke.

Dr. Laurel overhears the phone call. Let me have the phone, Mrs. Sharo, please.

Dr. Laurel asks the general, How are you today, sir? Dr. Shany has just stepped out. He will be back soon. I will call him and let him know, though, sir.

Okay, thank you, said General Ran. Some of the military will be arriving first, just so everyone knows.

Okay then, replied Dr. Laurel, I will call him right away.

Now Dr. Shany is still at home telling his wife to hurry up so they can pick up his new Spirit-Runner. Just then, Dr. Laurel calls, and Mrs. Shany answers the phone. It’s one of your secretaries from your office, dear.

Okay, I’m coming, says Dr. Shany.

Dr. Laurel tells him, The president will be here soon. Please return to the lab.

Okay, I will, said Dr. Shany.

Dr. Shany looks at his wife and tells her, Well, I guess I won’t be getting my new car today either.

What do you mean, dear? asked Mrs. Shany. They don’t have it ready again?

Dr. Shany replied, No, but you will be getting to meet the president of the United States today. We must return to my office now.

Really? said Mrs. Shany, who was all full of questions.

When they reached the science lab, military soldiers were everywhere. As Dr. Shany and his wife try to enter the building, they are stopped on the front lawn outside. May we see your credentials, please, sir. asked the guards.

But I work here, said Dr. Shany. This is my laboratory.

The guard replied, I still need to see your credentials, sir.

About that time the president’s helicopter landed on the front lawn. The president walks over to where Dr. Shany and his wife are being detained. The president salutes the soldier and asks, Why are these people being detained, soldier? Let them through!

    Yes, sir, replied the guard.

The president looks at Dr. Shany and asks, How is our space station doing out there, Dr. Shany?

Well, sir, replies Dr. Shany, it’s doing good so far. It’s the input from some of them we are getting back that’s not so good, sir.

What exactly are you saying, doctor? asks the president.

Well, sir, our space laboratory between the moon and Mars is telling us that our space buss-probe are not responding to any of our signals. We have about thirty of them out there, and only three have responded to our laboratory. And the readings are still not coming in as good as we would like, stated Dr. Shany. I’m sure the sun has destroyed all of them and is getting closer as we speak.

Well, what can be done, Dr. Shany? said the president.

Mr. President, replied Dr. Shany, our planet as we know it is going to be a hot box, as you might say, very soon. I don’t know what the rest of the world is going to do, but I can tell you what we need to do here in the States. We must prepare for the worst very quickly.

And what might that be? said General Ran.

Well, when the sun’s rays pass over our side of the earth, we must be ready to deflect as much of the heat as we can to keep from burning everyone up, said Dr. Shany.

And just how are we supposed to do this? asked the general. I hope you have something in mind.

"Well, the only thing we can do is we must build underground cities to hold as many people as we can and go as deep into the earth as possible. Then the earth will still become hotter than we might think. After we build the underground cities, we must build heat shields over them to protect it as much as possible.

"You see, gentlemen, we do not know the exact extent of the heat that will indeed hit the earth. We must build them out of the same material that we make our space shuttles out of, only a hundred times more and pray it will be enough. We have no time to lose, for it could come sooner because of our gravitational pull. We don’t know for sure.

This must be done before the sun comes too close to us. If the sun reaches us before, we may all perish, and man will be no more. We must start this work now, for we have no time to lose. If all of our buss-probes are gone, I don’t have to tell you what has happened to them and what will happen to life here.

Well gentlemen, the world meeting will start in two hours, Dr. Shany. I will tell them that they must start immediately, that no country has any time to lose.

Mr. president, we have indeed very little time to save as many lives as we can. We must build these cities and shields now. We must tell the rest of the world to do the same if the human race is to exist.

Well, Dr. Shany, what about the solar cracks that you are predicting, and how soon will they occur?

Well, now, no one has even thought about the earth breaking in half, and the core might split down the middle, let alone breaking our magnetic field of hold into and separating it and making the planet unbalanced. But it could happen.

Well, gentlemen, we must pray that it does not crack where we are at, but your guess is as good as mine.

Mr. President, if our numbers are right, according to our heat index from the space probe, as the sun comes closer to our planet within the next five months, the oceans will drop about ten to twenty feet or more and may cause earthquakes bigger than we have ever known.

The president tells General Ran that he will start the order of the construction immediately in every city that is large in size. We must not dig too many underground cities because of the solar cracks that will occur. I am not sure we will be able to save everyone, but may God have mercy on our souls. We will need his guidance on that day for sure.

Yes, sir, Mr. president. We will start right away.

General Ran, if we can save some of our animals species, try to make a place for them. But the people are our priorities. This must be done first.

Now Dr. Shany and Dr. Bokk have asked the president if he would join them in the meeting. Sure, Dr. Shany. If I can be of any help, I will indeed.

Just being there, sir, will help make some of the nonbelievers for sure.

Mrs. Sharo tells them they have about thirty minutes until the meeting. It is two o’clock, and the
