Foreword

How can you know your destiny? What is your purpose? And… once you identify it, what direction should you take to pursue it?

The potential that God has placed inside of you must be brought forth in order to accomplish God’s will for your life on this earth. There are numerous purposes attached to your obedience. Dr. James Gordon has been anointed and appointed with sensitive insights into God’s Divine Purpose.

In his book, God’s Divine Purpose, Dr. James Gordon shares the principles and purposes in our calling. I can’t help but to think about how the scripture (Isaiah 45:3) is so real in this book. And I will give [you] the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places… (KJV).

In our Christian walk, whether we like it or not, trials and tribulations are part of the purpose in our everyday life. I can still remember reading John 16:33 as a new Christian making my way through the New Testament. In words spoken to His disciples, Jesus boldly stated, ...In the world [you will] have tribulation… (KJV).

At that time I believed that everything would get better, that being a Christian would surely one day mean a problem-free life. However, the truth is that you and I—and everyone else will suffer. We live in a sinful fallen world that involves bodies deteriorating, relationships that require attention, temptation coming from all directions and relentless persecution of believers because of their testimony for Christ. This book will help you through your divine purpose. Sometimes the pit falls along the way which will really test your faith and spirit!

As you read through this book, Dr. Gordon gives sound instruction to understand divine purpose for your life. Through his writing, as the Holy Spirit leads him, you will encounter some wisdom from the Bible about trials and how to deal with trials. You will also learn that there are different levels in your divine purpose, and how to maximize each level of your purpose.

You will see that you’re on your way to reach your divine destiny. However, you will lose some relationships that you thought you had to have, but will soon realize that God only wants His will and purpose for your life.

Dr. Gordon shares his experiences of how Jesus stood up for him and gave him help in troubled times. As Dr. Gordon gives spiritual food for the soul explaining your divine purpose, he reminds me of the Apostle Paul who said, But thanks be to God, who give us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ, (1 Corinthians 15:57, King James Version) and [Yet] in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us (Romans 8:37, King James Version).

It is my heartfelt prayer that in reading, God’s Divine Purpose by Dr. James Gordon, you will be challenged to quell the enemy’s attack by wholeheartedly pursuing your destiny, purpose and direction. God believes in you and so do I. Go ahead. No two plans are alike—what’s for you is for you and only you!

Preface

As Dr. Gordon explores this thought provoking subject in God’s Divine Purpose, there are some very important questions asked. I can’t help but think of the thousands of Christians at this moment who are frustrated not knowing how to find their purpose. In this book there are instructions on how to understand your purpose, the principles to follow and obedience in God’s words. He has given us some great insight on how to understand our God given purpose. These principles will help us if we follow them.

God places within all of us the ability to fulfill our destiny in this life, but in life there are challenges we face that sometimes bombard us from our God given purpose. Nevertheless, we are told that the challenges of life have no power over our destiny. This book is intended primarily for those who are searching for their God-given purpose. Also, for those who are determined to find their worth and meaning of life in the midst of socio-economic situations and circumstances they face in life.

Dr. Gordon has presented to us some strong encouraging words from the Bible, and his spiritual experiences in his walk with God. You will find that in the process of this great search you will have opposition, you will lose some friends, you will be persecuted and lied upon, but we were warned by Christ in St. Matthew five verse eleven: Blessed are ye when men shall revile, you and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake (KJV).

Those who desire God’s divine purpose in their ministry must tap into the resources Dr. Gordon has provided for us. He has assured us that it is possible and can be attained through obedience to the Word of God. It is unfortunate that so many of God’s children are living without understanding the importance of life’s purpose and worth and the value that it carries in a Christians life.
