Letters from Alexia Omnibus - Judy Lunsford
Dear reader,
This book is a companion book to the original Trunk of Alexia trilogy.
The chapter headings are there in case you would like to read along in the original books as you read through the letters from Alexia and her friends.
The original books and this book of letters are designed so that you do not need both books to understand the story. You can read this book of letters without the original books, and you will understand the storyline just fine.
But, if you would like to, it would be great fun to read the two books side by side!
The Letters were originally designed to go along with a subscription project on Kickstarter, which is why the letters are arranged as they are. Two letters a month, so one chapter a month, spaced out over a year.
I hope you enjoy this retelling of the Trunk of Alexia trilogy and come to be a good friend of Alexia!
Happy Reading!

Sally and the Buccaneers
Chapter 1 – The Trunk & The Prince
LETTER #1
––––––––
Dearest new friend,
Hello! How wonderful it is to meet you! You must be very special indeed. You are special because only those that have the sight
can see fairies or what they have written! And only a fairy can give someone that very special gift. So somewhere along the way, you must have encountered a fairy, and they made you special in return for your kindness.
I am very happy to meet someone as special as you. I have a wonderful story to tell you about some other special friends and a very special trunk.
But let me start with introducing myself.
My name is Alexia. I am a pink fairy and I live in the garden in front of the royal castle in the south of our lands.
I live in a different world than you do. Maybe someday you can come and visit me!
I live in a world where magic is real and fairies roam free and there are sorcerers to battle. But I am getting ahead of myself.
Let me start at the beginning.
It all started with a young girl named Sally.
Sally lived in your world. A world where you have a very different sort of magic. You live in a magical land of refrigerators and toasters and cell phones. I know about these things because Sally has told me about them. Maybe someday, I should come and visit you! I would love to see the magic of a television!
But anyway, it all started with Sally. She and her mother had just moved to her grandmother’s house. Sally wasn’t happy there because she had to leave all of her friends behind when they moved.
So, one day, shortly after moving in, Sally was a little bored. She went up into her grandmother’s attic to explore.
It was dark up there and full of strange things that Sally had never seen before. There were boxes that were filled with things for the holiday that you call Christmas, an old creepy mannequin, a long full-length mirror, and lots of other things strewn about. Her grandmother didn’t bother to keep the attic very tidy. So, Sally found all sorts of interesting things.
But most importantly, she found the trunk.
Sally was meant to find it. Sally was always meant to find it. No one else knew this, but I did. It was one of my many secrets.
I needed Sally to come to the castle. Because my friends needed rescuing. And only Sally could do it.
Now you must be wondering how a ten-year-old girl is supposed to rescue anyone.
Sally is special. Just like you are special. She’s strong and smart and she was ready to believe. Just like you!
Sally opened the trunk and found all sorts of things in there. A pirate’s eye patch, a beautiful blue princess gown, fairy wings, lace-up shoes, and all sorts of other goodies.
Sally decided to try on the blue dress and she found that it fit her perfectly! It was like it was made for her. (wink)
Sally stopped to admire the dress in the long mirror in the attic and as she twirled around, she wound up stumbling backwards and landed in the trunk with a plunk! The lid slammed shut and left her in the pitch darkness of the trunk. She was a little surprised and scared. But don’t worry, she wasn’t hurt at all.
When Sally opened the lid, she found herself in a forest. Right in the middle of a dirt road.
I sent her there on purpose. She needed to find Arthur. Or, really, Arthur needed to find her.
You see, Arthur was much older than Sally. He was already 20! He was a soldier and a prince. Someone like him is much more closed to the ideas of fairies and magic. Arthur had serious things to attend to, like preparing to become the next king. But most importantly, he needed to find his lost sister and her friend. He had no idea where to look, so I sent Sally right to him.
You see, Arthur’s little sister, the one who was missing, is my dear friend Abby. And her delightful friend Layla was missing as well.
What Arthur didn’t know was that the day before, I was in the garden playing with Abby and Layla and I saw the whole thing!
Abby and Layla weren’t missing at all, they were kidnapped!
The men who came to steal them away were so quiet that even I and the other fairies failed to see them. We were too busy playing with the girls.
So, from what seemed like out of nowhere, several pirates grabbed the girls and took them away to their ship, which was docked right beside the town that is down the hill from the castle.
The other fairies and I tried to stop them, but it all happened so fast. They were gone in the blink of an eye!
So, you see why I had to send Sally to Arthur?
Oh, you don’t?
Well, then maybe if I have Arthur send you a letter, he can explain his side to you. And then you will understand why he needed Sally’s help so badly.
I will go and talk to him right now.
It was wonderful to meet you and I will write again soon, I promise!
Fairy Blessings,
Alexia
Chapter 1 – The Trunk & The Prince
LETTER #2
––––––––
Dear Alexia’s friend,
Hello. My name is Arthur and a little pink fairy told me to write to you. I hope that is alright.
Alexia wanted me to tell you about the day I met Sally.
I was riding through the forest with some of my guards. They are all skilled trackers and very good friends of mine.
We had been searching all night and all morning for my little sister Abby and her friend Layla. They had gone missing and we couldn’t find any trace of them.
But then, suddenly, right in the middle of the road was a big wooden trunk. And standing in it was Abby!
Or at least I thought it was Abby. It turned out that it was really Sally, but I didn’t know that at the time. Abby and Sally look like identical twins! I really had no idea that Sally wasn’t my sister.
I brought her back to the castle, with her protesting the whole way. She insisted that she wasn’t Abby and that she had just come from her grandmother’s house.
I thought maybe she had a head injury, or that maybe she was playing some sort of horrible game with me. But she was so sincere that when we finally got to the castle, she convinced me to ride with her back into the forest. Back to the trunk that I found her in.
When we got there, I would’ve sworn that it was just an average wooden trunk. Had I known what it really was, I never would’ve just left it in the forest the way that we did.
Sally climbed into the trunk and shut the lid. When she opened it up again, she seemed genuinely confused.
The fact that she had no idea that I was her brother (which in reality, I wasn’t) and the fact that she seemed truly convinced that the trunk was going to do something, made me worry about her tremendously. I was doubting my decision about returning to the forest, when to my eyes, I thought she really needed to see a doctor.
But then she put on an eye-patch. The kind pirate’s wear, and I got angry. I knew there were pirates in the area, and that they were the most likely ones to steal a princess and her friend. I thought playing around with an eye-patch was a terrible thing to do.
But then she sat down in the trunk and closed the lid.
And then the trunk vanished.
Right before my very eyes. It was just gone.
I was terribly surprised and upset, as you may well imagine.
But I would’ve been much more upset if I knew where Sally and the trunk had gone.
Sally had landed on the pirate ship.
And that is how I met Sally.
I hope that helps with the story that Alexia is telling.
She wanted me to tell you that she would write again soon.
It was very nice to meet you.
With Regards,
Arthur
Chapter 2 – The Buccaneers & The Princess
LETTER #3
––––––––
Dearest friend,
I hope Arthur was able to explain what happened when he first met Sally in the forest.
He’s so serious, isn’t he? But he was always busy trying to train to be the next King. He’s a good man, but far too serious and full of worry to believe in fairies. At least he was at that point.
That is precisely why I needed to enlist the help of Sally.
Isn’t it weird that she and Abby look exactly alike?
I will tell you why soon enough.
But first, you need
