Figure 2: Mazzy meets Zulu (6 years of age)
Mazzy had a strange feeling something was terribly wrong as she slowly woke up from her nightmare. She dreamed that Zulu, a fish, and her best friend, happened to be in trouble. She had to help him and then suddenly she realized it was only a dream. She reclined back on her bed with her heart beating in her chest in rapid succession until it slowly eased. Zulu was safe. He was still in the Kingdom of Travestana.
Travestana is the underwater kingdom ruled by King Hapadula and Queen Eldora who happen to be Princess Mazzy’s grandparents. Travestana is located right off the coast of Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan, deep within the Caspian Sea. All types of sea life live in harmony within the kingdom under the rule of Mazzy’s mermaid family.
Zulu told Mazzy the day before that he was going to go on an adventure with his school of fish to visit other countries throughout the underground channels that existed across the world. He would be leaving soon and wanted her to know he would be okay and only gone for one month.
Mazzy became so despondent after he told her he would be leaving. She had never been away from Zulu since she was six years old. He had always been by her side from the day they met and became instant friends. Mazzy who was six at the time had been sitting in an open clam resting after playing with her other friends that had just left. Zulu swam up to her as she sat alone and asked if she would
