    Intro

    OUT OF EGO, SELF-IMPORTANCE, stupidity or all three, Icarus burned up his wings, falling to his death; and in the process tore off your wings as well, bringing you down with him/her. Now what?

    A child gets diagnosed with cancer. The mother and father must do all they can to become experts in the type and stage of their child’s disease. They must research and find the best specialists, ask for help and find what will work for their child, their family.

    A young man is hit by a drunk driver and paralyzed from the neck down. While alive, he is a different version of himself. He can shrivel up and die of depression, or start the new 2.0 version. Physical therapy is grueling, painful and there’s no skipping ahead in progress. Still, if he is to have any future, any life knowing he’s still capable of living, he must do the work, pressing through the rage, pain, and tears.

    In both scenarios, there will be crying, anger, shaking fists at God and demanding why? Why me? Why us? It is normal. It’s to be expected. After the storms of emotional responses, we know, as do they, we must do this work, and put in the effort, if we are to have any hope of survival.

    CRISIS. D-DAY. GUSHING wounds and a critical need to stop the bleeding. This was me when my Icarus confessed infidelity. I had no one to turn to, no family to call, and no therapist in place to reach out to; I tried, but new clients couldn’t be seen for weeks. So, as most people do, I turned to the internet. A dangerous proposition when in such an emotional state, but I was desperate. For a bandage. For answers and guidance about what to do next.
