About this ebook

Running around a high school track. A common form of exercise, even in rainy Portland, Oregon. An easy choice, for a man growing too sedentary behind his computer.

Running at dusk seems the obvious choice. After work, but before evening activities.

But at dusk, the veil of worlds thins. At dusk, sometimes things slip through.

And tonight, a simple jog turns into one man's race for his life.

"Running for Health" – a chilling short story of dark fantasy horror, teetering at the brink of madness. Don't miss this one! From Stefon Mears, author of The House on Cedar Street and Devil's Night.

    About the Author

    Also by Stefon Mears

It was the first and last time I tried running at dusk.

Running was still a new idea to me then. As exercise, I mean. I’d been sitting on my ass for long enough that my couch was developing a distinct dent in my favorite spot, and I couldn’t keep pretending that my jeans were just shrinking in the wash.

No. The fact was that ever since I’d moved to Portland, Oregon, I’d let myself get sedentary.

It was easy enough to do. My old basketball friends were still back in the Bay Area, and I didn’t know the courts around here. Not that there were all that many courts in the west hills of Portland.

Plus, I don’t know if you knew this, but it rains in Portland. No, I don’t mean it sprinkles a little bit now and again. I mean it rains. My first month in town I saw more rain than I might have seen back in Santa
