What Is On The Other Side - Mollen Garikai
Introduction
As I reflect on my past, I remember facing challenges due to a condition called Cerebral Palsy, which affected the functioning of my hands. This made it difficult for me to hold a pen and write in school. However, I want to emphasize that despite these obstacles, I possessed a great deal of intelligence.
Looking back, I recall being repeatedly told that I couldn't write. But before anyone else joins the conversation, I want to be the first one to express my pride and amazement at the fact that I am sitting here, writing a whole book. This book is not only going to be available locally but also globally.
If you are interested in exploring the unique relationship between disability and spirituality, this book offers a compelling and thought-provoking perspective. It delves into how disability and spirituality can support one another, providing insights and perspectives that are both unique and enlightening. Whether you want to gain a deeper understanding of life for those with disabilities or explore your own spirituality, What Is On the Other Side
is the perfect read for you.
Trust me you are going to love this!!
I have a deep passion for the ICT profession. With my Diploma in Information and Communication Technology, I feel at ease and comfortable in that space. However, outside of this field, I often face struggles. It's the complexity, vastness, intensity, and depth of ICT that truly ignites my passion and interest. Even though I may feel that I haven't fully pursued it to the extent of my educational path, my connection with technology runs deep. It's a long-term relationship that we share, and we have a mutual understanding of one another.
My journey with technology began at a very tender age, during my early years of schooling. It was a time when I was struggling with my disability as a child. Computers and other gadgets were introduced to me as assistive devices and technologies. Since then, technology has been my destiny helper. It has played a significant role in making the impossible possible. It's incredible to think that the one who couldn't write has now written a whole book! Thanks to innovation.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is a fascinating field that revolves around the technologies used to handle communications and information processing and management. Its main goal is to ensure that information reaches its intended destination, received by the right person, and understood so that the appropriate action can be taken. Without technology, communication used to face numerous barriers. Timelines were affected by the lengthy delivery of letters, making real-time responses nearly impossible. The absence of direct and effective communication between sender and receiver often hindered decision-making. We are truly grateful for the inventors and innovators who have contributed to the technologies we enjoy today. Their efforts deserve a round of applause.
Nowadays, communication is direct and instant, thanks to the advent of instant messaging platforms like WhatsApp. We no longer have to anxiously wait for the postman's bike bell to ring, signaling the arrival of a letter from mom, only to discover that it was written the previous week, causing confusion about her expected visit. With a simple text message saying, I'm on my way, I will be arriving in 15 minutes,
we can now coordinate effortlessly. Isn't that awesome?
But let's shift gears here. This book is not about technology, and you might be wondering why I mentioned it. Well, I want to share some of my moments of mindful thinking, although I'm not exactly sure what to call it. It's my personal reflection on life, perhaps my journey of awakening or spirituality. As humans, we all have moments of introspection where we question our existence, seeking to understand our truest identity within the vast universe of life. It patiently waits for us to realize, explore, and actualize our potential. This realization can be likened to Jesus Christ's experience in the wilderness, fasting for forty days, and being questioned by the devil about his identity as the Son of God. Even Mary, when she became pregnant, had a profound conversation or dialogue that helped her realize she was filled with grace and became aware of herself in a new way.
I personally believe that there is a profound longing within each of us to fully understand our true essence of being. We yearn for the removal of the veil that currently limits our perception, so that we can see things as they truly are in reality. It reminds me of what Paul wrote to the believers in Corinth: For we know in part... but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears... For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror... Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known
(1 Corinthians 13:9-12). Similarly, in his letter to the Romans, Paul speaks of our inward groaning as we eagerly await our adoption as children of God and the redemption of our bodies (Romans 8:23).
What if I no longer had to groan and wait, but instead awakened to the true reality of my body? I believe this would mark the beginning of life itself. It would empower me to live with a deeper understanding of who I am and the purpose I am meant to fulfill in this world.
Even though I possess the capabilities, potential, and drive to succeed in life, my lack of knowledge and understanding often hinders me from achieving my objectives, missions, and purposes. Without clarity on what, when, where, why, and how I should act, I may miss out on the timelines, opportunities, and chances that were meant for me. It is crucial for me to gain the knowledge and understanding necessary to navigate my path and fulfill my destiny.
Without understanding, I remain stagnant, like a car engine that fails to start. It idles instead of turning the ignition on and propelling me forward. Understanding puts all the pieces together and paves the way for everything else to fall into place, right on time. Somewhere in the Bible, it is written that my people die because they lack knowledge.
Knowing is the first step towards achieving anything in life. I can only realize and do something if I am aware of it and learn to understand it, so that I can actualize it. This is where information plays a crucial role. Information is critical and needs to be effectively communicated in order to take action.
In pursuit of knowledge, I remember the words Seek ye first the kingdom of God and everything else will be added unto you.
In other words, as I grow in understanding things pertaining to life, everything else will fall into place.
Allow me to use a technological illustration here. How do I come to know or become aware of something? Just like a computer that receives instructions from the outside environment, I also receive information externally through my sensory system – sight, touch, hearing, taste, and smell. I have to see, hear, taste, smell, or touch something to translate it as
