    Dagon - Owen Shelley

    DAGON

Scene 1: Interior of tent with camp stool and table. Commander pacing back and forth as distant noise of battle fades.

Commander: I've planned this battle for weeks and it's terrible not knowing who is winning.

SFX: Battle noises cease completely, distant cheers

Commander: Well, that sounds like the end. But of whose army? I must see. (Commander goes to tent flap) There's so much dust it's hard to... ah, here comes one of my officers. (Commander sits at table)

Captain: (Offstage) Commander? Commander: Come in captain! (Captain enters and salutes)

Commander: Well, Captain. What news? Are the Israelites defeated?

Captain: (happily) Yes Commander. Our Phillistine army has won the battle. The Israelites are now in full retreat. Nearly four thousand of their best soldiers lie dead upon the battlefield.

Commander: Good! And what of our own troops?
