At the Crucifixion
(Jesus is hanging on the cross; there should be a physical cross of some type standing upright in the middle of the stage; the actors are standing or kneeling around the cross in a semi-circle. There should be sounds of crying and shouting.)
Virgin Mary (crying): Why is this happening? Somebody tell me why?
John (holding on to her): I don’t know. I don’t understand.
Martha (looking around): Where are His friends, His disciples?
Mary (falling down on her knees and shouting): This can’t be happening! It can’t!
Priest 1 (walking up to her shouting and laughing): Oh, yeah, it’s happening! What’s wrong with Him? He saved others. Now let Him save Himself!
(the other priests laugh)
High Priest (pointing to sign on top of Jesus’ cross): Take that sign down! He’s not the King of the Jews!
Priest 2: Yeah! He’s not our King!
Martha (talking to John and Virgin Mary): He was always so kind and good to others. Why do they hate Him so much?
