About this ebook

The events reported in the book of Daniel occurred during the time of the exile in Babylon. Although it was a time of deep despair for the people, it was also a period when spectacular events took place. These are some of the most dramatic events in the whole of the Bible. These scripts can be performed by either live actors or puppets and as a six part serial or as six individaul plays.

    SCENERY GUIDE

To perform this play with puppets it will be necessary to produce some special props: -

THRONE: As various kings confront Daniel during his lifetime a suitable throne will need to be built.

FURNACE: This effect can be fairly easily produced by having a plywood frame with an opening for the mouth of the furnace large enough for a puppet to pass through. The fire can be a painted curtain set back a couple of inches that is visible through the entrance giving a 3D effect.

WRITING ON THE WALL: The hand which does the writing can be held up and manipulated by a rod. A back drop painted like a wall can be flicked aside revealing a second wall with the writing on it. Those using open theatres with the black glove technique could have the wording cut out on card and popped into place on the background with barrel hooks.

EXTERIOR OF DANIEL'S HOUSE: A rigid frame will be needed with an opening door and a large opening for the window through
