Maisie's POV

I played with my fingers, staring at them nervously, I hoped they didn't hate me, but for some reason, I felt like I was unlucky.

Maisie, Raul's sister squealed and ran to me, hugging me, I hugged her back, surprised that she hugged me.

Lance's POV

I was right, and Raphael was right too. She was up to something, and I decided to know what it was. It made me decide to follow her. I didn't know what was wrong with me, but I wanted to know what she was up to and if she was safe.

I watched her sneak off with her backpack, she turned around and I hid, I didn't want her seeing me, if she did, she might stop what she was up to, she looked around for a while and I hid carefully, when she didn't see me she sneaked into the kitchen, I wonder how she was going to pull this off.

I watch her come in and out of the kitchen, looking around for anyone watching, I made sure I stayed close to her but also in a way she won't see me.

I learned how to shadow when I was ten years old, my mom taught me that and I mastered it since, I didn't let my father know I had that ability, he would try to make me stop doing it, but it felt like a safe place for me just like drawing, and I didn't want anyone in that space.

She went to the enforcer and told him that she had something to do, she kept looking around when she left, I wondered if she was looking for the slaves Shelia kept as spies, I made them leave, giving them a sudden work to do, they couldn't disrespect me or say no, they had no choice but to do what I wanted them to do.

She finally carried her backpack and my heart thumped in fear for her. I didn't know why I wanted her safe. It was weird. I hated her and I wanted to protect her as well. I couldn't help how I felt.

She walked to the back gate and I joined her. Raphael would have joined me, but he didn't know how to shadow, he would've gotten us caught, he decided to wait at the Central Market for me, he wanted to investigate my father more.

I saw her hide quickly and I checked around and realized it was only Raul, this proved that he was really the one helping her escape, she relaxed when she saw Raul, she smiled at him, and they left together, for some weird reason I hated how close she was with him, that was what I wanted with her, but it was something I couldn't get, I hated that so much, I wished that was me, but that wasn't me, my feelings for her was too complicated when it felt like I didn't care and I hated her for having rogues parents who made my mom die, at the same time, I cared about her too much, it scared me, I wondered how my feelings would be if I loved her fully, I was sure I would be insanely in love with her.

I watched her get hurt and I wanted nothing more than to run to her and help her, but I couldn't do anything but watch them. I watched her heal herself by using the leaf I decided to snap on my phone.

I followed them till they reached the central market, I knew that they'll go there, but I was so fucking scared for her, I hoped none of my father's spies were around, if they were it would be very messy, the central market was really large, I joined them in searching around for signs of any of my father's spies, I couldn't find them, and they didn't either, I sighed in relief and followed them, I knew the route, it was the same place Raul went to that day, it felt like he wanted to keep Maisie, I hoped she would be safe there.

I watched him use the same secret place he used earlier. I felt like joining them there, but I didn't feel like imposing myself. I would explore it myself when I was ready. Right now I wasn't, all I cared about was her being in safe hands.

I waited for them to come out, especially Raul, I wondered why he wasn't here, I wondered if he had an alibi or an explanation to make him less suspicious.

After a few minutes, he came out alone and rushed off, and I sighed wondering if I should just go there and check how she is, I could do it without anyone knowing.

I kept waiting, and after an hour, I got a lot of calls from Raphael, I was sure he was done with whatever he came here to do, I hoped he could out what he wanted.

I sighed in relief when I saw the woman walk out and then a girl, and then Maisie who wore a hoodie to hide, but I could easily know who she was.

I watch them leave and I joined them, they moved around and she tagged along, the elder woman finally reached a bush part at the outskirts of the central market, she entered there and I did the same, I followed her and watch her press a button on the tree, and a gate appeared, I gasped in awe, I followed them in entering, I took pictures of the whole place, making sure I'll show Raphael.

I saw others and a man I could guess was their Alpha, from the energy he gave off, he hugged Maisie and welcomed her, I saw the name of the pack, the survival pack, it was weird and I wondered why they called it that way.

I was happy with where she was staying with those that cared about her and want her, she was better off than being in our pack.

I took off going to where Raphael stood with the car, he didn't see me come, he removed his phone and I got it from him, he stepped back in shock.

Who's there? He asked.

Who do you think it is? I asked making myself visible, he sighed in relief.

CHAPTER 69 Where's Maisie?

Raul's POV

My sister never failed to annoy me, but I love her that way, rushing back to the pack was my goal, I looked around and no one followed me, satisfied that I saw no one, I rushed and sneaked in the back door of the pack, I saw Aidan stand there and I sighed in relief, I was happy to see that I wasn't caught, I just hoped everything would work as planned.

You took more than an hour, He raised his brows.

Sorry bro, it took more time than I thought, I said.

Is she okay, have you dropped her off? He asked.
