CHAPTER 54 The Dinner Party

Edward's POV

My fated mate, my Luna, my wife all felt right and natural in my mind and tongue. Her scent was surrounding me and it made my inner Lycan howl in happiness. Even now as I watch her sleep, I'm fighting the urge to not bury my dick in her tight entrance. I wanted all of her, every inch of her heart and soul I wanted it all for me. I almost died when I felt the burning sensation in my chest when she was with another man. It reminded me of the one person I never wanted to think about; Jane Anne. Memories came flooding down on me and I was enraged. I would have hurt Caliana at that moment had my daughter not come, It would be something I'd regret for the rest of my life because I am already attached to her in ways I didn't think possible.

This was getting dangerous, I needed to get my head together so I avoided her the whole day but she came to me instead, her bravery surprised me. I tried to understand her reasons for doing what she did and I decided we should let it go since I'm not innocent either.

I inhaled her scent one more time before shaking her awake. She jumped out of bed, panicked, and ran into the bathroom. I followed suit and joined her in the shower. She was startled for only a second but continued to wash her hair. She was damn sexy and irresistible. I watched how the water bounced against her smooth skin and I wished I'd lick all of it, she enchanted me. Her fingers sensually moved to her neck and my breath shuddered, it was unmarked and all I wanted was to sink my canines in it. Ward wanted me to mark her right then, for the whole world to know that she's MINE. I clenched my fist at my side and shook my head from any dirty thoughts I had and joined her. The shower was large enough to accommodate both of us.

After the shower, we rushed to get ready. Caliana was wearing the most beautiful dress I'd ever seen on anyone. It framed her body perfectly and looked flawless. She showed part of her skin and I almost growled possessively however, I didn't want to pick a fight with her and I knew she was too stubborn to change out of it. She lifted her head to me once she finished doing her hair.

How do I look?

You're perfect, I told her truthfully. She flushed at my words and looked even cuter.

Caliana POV

My dress was daring. I knew it and It surprised me that Alpha Edward didn't throw a fit. There was a raging need in his eyes instead and we linked our arms. We peeked down to the grand foyer where everyone was socializing. We descended the long stairs and the once loud room quietened as they faced us. I held my head high and put on a small perfect smile on my lips. The Alpha pulled me tighter against him.

The soft music started to play again and we interacted with the others, my eyes met Ansley, she was looking lovely in a black gown and was talking to elder Christina Carter and her godfather, Ezekiel. We approached them and they smiled, we exchanged a few words and Ansley turned to me, Hello, Luna Caliana, you look beautiful, She said.

And you too, I smiled.

I forgot to ask Edward what Ansley was. We interacted with other guests for a while longer and my husband was by my side the entire time. Another surprise this evening. I noticed that Ansley was standing in the corner of the room, watching everyone and glancing to the third floor from time to time. Was she expecting someone? She was soon joined by Melody and I saw a sneer on her face that made me almost chuckle, Melody was irritating her as she spoke. I went over to them and stood next to Ansley, Melody smiled tightly at me and bowed her head as she turned to leave. We watched the woman leave and she sighed

I don't know how you did it but thank you, Ansley said with a smile.

I saw you didn't want to speak to her and I had a feeling she wouldn't stick around when I'm here, I chuckled and she nodded.

Edward is not a bad man... He's just scared, She whispered. My eyes went to my husband, he was talking to Ezekiel.

I'm sure you didn't mean to, I tried to soothe, the atmosphere in the room was changing too, it was chilly at first but now it was getting too warm. Edward came to us, putting his hand on her back gently, and asked if she was alright. Ansley leaned into him and closed her eyes for a second, her actions surprised me. I didn't know they were THIS close, I mean, I wasn't jealous but seeing Edward be this way to a woman who wasn't family was new to me.

I'll take her out for some air, Alpha Edward told me and I raised an eyebrow

CHAPTER 55 Everyone Knows You

Caliana's POV

I interacted with the guests and soon, the chef announced that the food was ready and we should go into the dining room. I sat on his left and dinner went on well, everyone laughing and chatting away.

After dinner, we partied lively for a bit and danced the night away, however, anger fueled me when I saw Melody trying to seduce my mate. She had a few drinks and was now shameless. Alpha Edward wasn't even entertaining her and I enjoyed watching her reaction to that.

We retired to bed almost after midnight and we were both too tired to even shower, we just got under the covers and slept.

The next morning, we woke up late and when we did, we had a terrible headache.

Coffee, He groaned, massaging his temple.

Okay, I mind-linked one of the kitchen chefs and a few minutes later, they brought us food and coffee.

We went to the salon and sat to eat, there were all kinds of food.

What do you want,

I want meat and lots of broccoli, He said. I served him while he poured me a cup of coffee. We ate our breakfast silently but the door burst open and Love walked in, singing, it sounded so loud to my ears.

Stop, please, I sighed, closing my eyes at the pounding headache.

She laughed and threw herself on her father's lap. He fed her vegetables but she spit them out on a napkin.

Dad, I hate broccoli, She grimaced.

You both look unhappy. Is it because you were drinking last night?!

We don't drink, We answered in unison.

It's okay. I understand that adults drink when there is a party, She shrugged her shoulders and smiled.

Thank you, I grunted. I drank more water and sat in a comfortable position.

It's the beginning of a new month! Love was joyfully announced. I said a silent prayer of thanks, I was thankful for Love, Edward, and the whole family. I was smiling as the daughter and father bickered about something. After breakfast, Love convinced us to go to the park with her. I got in the passenger seat and Love at the back as Edward drove us there. I took a few goofy pictures of this moment even though I know it will forever be treasured in my heart.

Reaching the park, we did all sorts of things and despite my disapproval, I was forced to go on the rollercoaster.

This is so FUN! Love exclaimed, standing between us and taking us to the next ride. Afterward, we went to the photo booth. I sat on the Alpha's lap as we took goofy pictures, I was even bold enough to kiss him.

Lemme see, lemme see, Love ran to us as soon as we came out of the small booth. I showed her the pictures and she smiled, putting them on the chest.

I love when we have fun together!

Me too! I cheered.

Should we go in next, Cali, She asked and I nodded.

We had the most fun there and we decided to have ice cream.

Joseph is the best ice cream maker in town, Love informed me as we went to the ice cream truck. There were people there and most of them came to pay their respects. They watched us with smiles. It was too open and we weren't going to have so much fun so I suggested we go to the ice cream shop. A waitress took our orders; I had vanilla, my favorite, while the Alpha and Love got blueberry cheesecake and lime.

Love was teaching me a game when I noticed the female waitress slip a small piece of paper into Alpha Edward's pocket, it probably had her number on it. I didn't react or show him that I saw it.

Excuse me, I said and went to the bathroom to refresh. I was pondering on what to do. How dare that bitch give him that in my presence and why didn't he throw it or approach her! I felt like screaming but composed myself. I was still looking in the mirror when our waitress came and I clenched my fist. She eyed me once and bowed,

Luna, She acknowledged. I scoffed and crossed my arms against my chest.

She smiled, Of course, everyone knows you in the pack,

Then what was that sneaky business you did back there? I narrowed my gaze at her. I hated that she fudged innocence as if I was making it up.

What did I do, She asked innocently, if I didn't see it I would believe her. I didn't have time for this so I left the bathroom. I was still angry but as soon as I saw Edward throw the note along with the empty bowls of ice cream, all anger went away. My wolf danced happily.

I soon joined them and we continued chatting and playing all sorts of games with Edward cheering us on.

We went home in the late evening and Love was sleeping in her father's arms. We retired to bed and I slept next to my mate, surrounded by his intoxicating scent. During the night, his arms wrapped around me and I felt his racing heartbeat, he was trembling slightly. Was he having a bad dream again? I tightened my arms on him as well and softly kissed his lips, his body reacted and calmed down.

CHAPTER 56 Don't You Want Me Here?

Caliana's POV

I was disappointed to find he was gone the next day I woke up. I got ready for work, we didn't have much to do except prepare for the festivities. The pack will be beautifully decorated with colors and balloons, dancing in the streets, barbecues in the evening, and a fireworks display.

I wanted the strays outside the border to settle into their new homes before the celebrations so I mind-linked Juanita to ask if everything was ready.

'Is the mansion clean and prepared?'

'Yes, Ma'am. We changed the sheets and even prepared the kid's rooms just like you asked," She reported. I later sent Mr. Tim to get them from the border. I drove to the mansion and we all wanted anxiously. My mate's car pulled into the entrance and I was stiff. I didn't know he would be joining us to welcome them. Juanita and I shared a glance. I smiled tightly as I went to him.

He opened the door and stepped out of the car.

I cried out in pain and he rushed to me, carrying me bridal style and putting me on top of his car boot, inspecting my hurt ankle. I repressed a wince when he massaged it. Juanita and two others rush to us,

Allow me, Alpha, She said quietly, showing him ointment. He takes it from her and opens it.

I can do it Alpha, allow me, Steven and Juanita said at once. He shot them one of his famous glares and the two servants bowed their necks in submission.

I can take care of my wife, thanks, He gritted his teeth. We shared a glance and once again I was lost in his eyes. I swallowed and he began to apply the ointment to my injury. His fingers were tender and tingles flew all over my leg. I was watching him the whole time and didn't even realize when he finished.

Is it better? He asked, in the softest of voices and I only nodded my head. I was still dazed by this man. We all turned to the big bus that arrived at the compound and I made an attempt to jump off the boot but I landed all my weight on the injured ankle and pain spread through my leg. I hissed and my mate wrapped his arms around me. Holding me tighter against him.

Please don't scare them, I begged.

Careful with your leg, He said and I nodded. He didn't let go of me even as the bus stopped right in front of us and the strays started to come out. They all tensed when they saw the Alpha but he surprised us by smiling.

Hello, He said to them. They all bowed their necks low in concession to him.

How do you feel now? He asked, placing me softly on the sheets. He sat beside me and lifted my leg, rubbing it again.

Caliana's POV
