About this ebook

Tia Talks — My Life in a Multi-breed Family is the Premier volume in the My Dogs Talk series by Lesley Osborn.

Tia Talks is a collection of humorous stories told by a beautiful English Setter about living with other dogs. And birds. And a horse, too. Tia shares events from her life at GREYSETT, a home in central Florida where Grandma and Aunt Lesley have a variety of breeds, all incorporated into one big happy family. Well, happy most of the time.

Tia is a funny storyteller. You'll chuckle as she sets the stage in each chapter and then describes the antics of the family members—the canines big and small, the little feathered ones, the big one with hooves, as well as the humans. You'll more than chuckle. Sometimes you'll laugh out loud as you read about Tia's life at GREYSETT.

The stories told by Tia are true. And as you might guess, "Aunt Lesley" is, of course, Lesley Osborn.

    DEDICATION

Tia Talks — My Life in a Multi-breed Family is dedicated to my mother and father.

To my mom, who, for fifty years, bred and exhibited English Setters under the kennel name of Canberra.

And to my father, who, first and foremost, instilled in me the talent and love for writing. He often told his colleagues that putting up with all the many Tia’s in the household was cheaper than a psychiatrist for Grandma.

Credit also goes to the various members of the GREYSETT household and its changing complexion over the years. These characters have inspired this book.

Thanks for making this house a happy home.

    PREFACE

Tia Talks began as a monthly column I wrote for the national newsletter of the English Setter Association of America.

Those were the days when many writers still used typewriters. Remember those? I was cutting edge and used a computer. A big one. And back then, everything relied on snail mail. So, I wrote my column and sent it on its way with the postman.

When I wrote Tia Talks, the newsletter was a paper version mailed to the membership. As many things change over time, so did that newsletter. Today it is digital.

As Tia aged, she had less interaction with the other canine members of our family. Her monthly column aged along with her until I decided to bring it to a close. Tia remained with us for a while longer until she peacefully crossed The Bridge.

As I wrote the column, I kept every printed page safe in
