Author

Caterina St John

I am an Australian writer who seeks to share some my life lessons and hopefully help others create a better life from hearing about important things that I've learned over many years. So far, this includes the topic of investing, and I also write on the topic of nefarious characters that tend to be ubiquitous and can covertly try and bring you down while pretending to be your best friend. My books aim to add value to your life; I mix facts with fiction adding some humour to create an easy reading experience, but the messages are true. I like to write in "Bite Sized Chunks" for easy digestibility and to cater for those with a tighter attention span. My Trademarked philosophy is Consistency Over Time = Results.

    About the Author

    Introduction

Well done (again) on the purchase of this book. You may have already read the first book in the series Inve$t Early For Life, found it incredibly helpful, so here you are back for more. (And if not, then I highly recommend reading it.) Now, after getting your property investment strategy in order, that side of your life is all good, but you’ve obviously noticed some people in your life who you suspect aren’t what they say they are, and perhaps you are also feeling a little manipulated by them, or you wouldn’t have picked up this book.

Well, Welcome to the party, pal! (In the words of John McClane from the movie Die Hard.) There are numerous characters you brush up against in your daily life who are not what they seem. Characters like this that you may not even be aware of currently sitting right under your nose, posing as your normal next-door neighbour, your friend, your colleague, boy/girlfriend or even your spouse. And everyone knows someone who is like this, and is probably in some sort of relationship with them. What if I told you, that some of these characters are lacking a conscience and could even be sociopaths? Would you believe it, or think that I am overstating it?

I believe a sociopath is someone who relates to others in an abnormal (pathological) way, and whose driving force is to exploit those around them, potentially causing their victims harm, but without feeling any guilt whatsoever (i.e., lacking in conscience).

It could be for money, power, to get their own way, or simply to stroke an ego. There are more of these people in the world than you may realize, and also there is a wide spectrum of types, and myriad of behaviours that can range from trivial manipulations to murder. A disturbance of character seems to underpin most of the people who display repeated poor behaviour. And to make it worse, they are very hard to spot because they look to all intents and purposes like regular people, and can be quite charming to begin with. (There is no sign on their forehead that reads Sociopath alerting us to their nefarious agendas.) But they are not actually normal people, and with their sinister natures, at some point they will make trouble for you if you let them in to your life. Lying seems to be a common theme, and many sociopaths like
