The Elephant Kitties Piggies and Puppies Around the Farm - Monica Wagner
An Elephant is not a Bird
Hey Frenchy
, says Emma the goose. Have you heard, there is a new circus in town.
Oh, this is great
, says Frenchy the fox. Maybe we’re getting lucky.
Lucky how,
asks the goose
Well, remember last year? We all sneaked under the circus tent, and watched the show.
Yes that was fantastic, even our friend Hugo the wild boar enjoyed it.
We all did and nobody noticed us
, says Frenchy, they had many strange animals in that circus, animals that came not from around here
.
Let’s go there again!
Let’s tell our friend Bambi the deer, may she wants to join us.
When are we going Frenchy?
We all meet in front of the tent and sneak into the circus tonight.
Hopefully the children won’t see us
, says Emma.
It doesn’t matter
, says Frenchy. Because I have a secret bond with the children from the village, remember?
Because you showed them the secrets of the forest…
That’s right. And they let me know when hunting season starts…
I am so glad the circus is here
, says Emma.
At night it’s time. The friends of the forest, Frenchy the fox, Emma the goose, Hugo the wild boar and Bambi the deer are tiptoeing towards the edge of the village where a big red illuminated tent appears. Slowly and carefully they are snooping forward to the big tent. From the inside they can hear loud human laughter and strange shrieks from animals.
Frenchy jumps forward and lifts a corner of the tent, and on his mark they all sneak inside, hushing into a dark corner from where they can observe the spectacle.
Frenchy and Hugo’s eyes open wide, they can hardly believe what they see. The whole arena is full of people, most of them are children. Never have Frenchy and his friends seen so many people at once, and there in the center, under the rays of bright lights, on a sand pit, stays an enormously large animal, grey in color with white tusks and huge ears. Instead of a nose this animal has a very long and big trunk, but it has small and very friendly eyes. Frenchy is not sure if this animal is smiling or sad. But for sure this is the strangest animal he has ever seen. It makes a trumpet like sound that seems to come from his trunk.
What kind of animal is this
, asks Hugo the wild boar.
Hush… not so loud, we must hide here
, says Frenchy.
But we need to know who or what it is
, whispers
