    About the Author

    Dedication

Throughout this season of my journey with Jesus Christ, I have found that it is a journey that is shared with each of you. I thank each of you, who came beside me with their prayers, words of encouragement and their hope. In this challenging season, what has been imparted to me by you is the amazing truth that we need one another in this journey. However you choose to use Journey into Wholeness as your study guide, I would encourage you to try and share the process with one other person or preferably a group.

It is a disarming experience to share our weaknesses and faults to one another, but the pay-off is great. God brings healing to ourselves and to one another as we dare to unlock our defenses and open the sealed doors leading into transparency. This process has been by far the most humbling experience of my life. I started this season with the prayer that God would grant me the ability to demonstrate grace inside the struggle. I found, however, that the intention of my prayer was ego driven. I wanted others to look at me and say, Look how much grace she can extend to others even through her painful circumstances.

What I experienced was just the opposite. I found strength through the grace others were extending to me. Grace came in the form of acceptance of me, especially in my not so nice days. Grace came to me through the kind deeds and words of others and, in time, I learned how to give myself grace in the midst of my self-deprecation. I found a way to see myself as God saw me. In my humility, I found His grace.

God’s agenda, in the middle of our trials, is to reveal more of His character to us. His grace, whether it comes to us directly by His Spirit or through His beloved children (you and me) is intended to expose His glorious image to the world. Therefore, as I encourage you to continue your personal healing journey I, once again, thank you for what you have already achieved. Thank you for gifting me with God’s grace.

    Introduction

Hi, my name is Carol Romeo and I want to welcome you to study and learn from my teachings in this workbook Journey into Wholeness. This book is best used in conjunction with my book Traveling with the Life-Giver, but it does stand alone in the instruction it will bring to you. After suffering an abusive childhood, I sadly carried the after effects into my marriage and motherhood. However, in my studies for a degree as a marriage and family therapist, I learned some of the tools I needed to free me from the behavior that I was desperate to change. These tools that I am offering you are a compilation of what I both learned and experienced. We are reminded in James 5:16, Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. I like to remember the statement, We are harmed in relationship and we are also healed in relationship.

Have you heard the statement, God takes our mess and turns it into our life-message? Well, that is
