    1 - Introduction

Sugar, or to be more precise: refined white or table sugar is omnipresent these days. It is cheap and quite versatile. It is a mainstay in many kitchen counters and used extensively in many commercially processed food and drinks.

This product is also highly addictive and causes numerous health issues, particularly: diabetes and obesity. This also increases symptoms of pre-existing medical conditions like cancer, heart diseases, tooth decay, and poor cognitive functioning.

Like all addiction, it is hard to quit sugar. This must be carefully done in stages. Otherwise, a sugar or sweets addict will only switch from one sweetener to another, usually with same or dire consequences.

This is evidenced by the popularity of artificial sweeteners and other organic sugars.

    Products like:

    Advantame

    Alitame

    Aspartame

    Aspartame-acesulfame

    Salt

    Acesulfame potassium

    Cyclamate

    Dulcin

    Erythritol

    Glucin

    Glycerol

    Glycyrrhizin

    HSH (hydrogenated starch hydrolysate)

    Isomalt

    Kaltame

    Lactitol

    Maltitol

    Mannitol

    Neohesperidine

    Dihydrochalcone

    Neotame

    Phenylalanine

    Poly-dextrose

    Saccharin

    Sorbitol

    Sucralose

    Tagatose

These are being hailed as better alternatives to table sugar because these don’t affect insulin production in the bloodstream. That is partly true, but artificial sweeteners are also known carcinogens. Regular consumption of any of these artificial sweeteners triggers or exacerbates cancer cell growth.

By switching usage from table sugar to artificial sweeteners, people lessen their risk of premature diabetes and may even lose weight, but they also increase their chances of acquiring one or more forms of cancer and other bone degenerative diseases like bone tumors, fibrous dysplasia, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and sclerosis, etc.

This is a classic case of: out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Other people are using organic sugars and sweeteners like agave nectar or syrup, balsamic glaze, barley malt syrup, blackstrap molasses, brown rice syrup, coconut sugar, date sugar, fruit concentrates, honey, maple syrup, palm sugar, sugar cane juice, and stevia, etc. But many of these aren’t better or healthier than table sugar.

For example honey, which is considered as a superfood, has numerous health benefits. When consumed in small amounts, it relieves coughs caused by allergies, avian influenza, bronchitis, common cold, emphysema, influenza, laryngitis,
