Preface
I decided to try to write a book about Mary Magdalen. Easy, right? I knew there wasn’t a lot written about her in the King James Version of the New Testament. So I decided to look on the internet. I found a lot of information. Strangely enough, almost all of it was written several centuries after she had died.
She was described by some writers as an apostle, as Jesus’s closest and most beloved disciple and the only one who truly understood his teachings.
I expected to use a lot of my imagination. I always do, but it turns out, I had to use more of my imagination along with a lot of Heavenly guidance, in order to accomplish my task.
Mary was born in Magdala. For some reason she was called Mary Magdalen. Nobody knows what her last name really was. Was everyone from Magdala given the last name of Magdalen? Strange. Maybe it was because there were so many Mary’s in the New Testament. Maybe it was a way to distinguish between them. However, the only other Mary sister of Martha of any consequence was Mary the mother of Jesus. Was that the reason? I guess we will never know.

Chapter One
MAGDALA
Magdala was a city on the west side of the Sea of Galilee. The small city was known for preserving fish. Sometimes they used salt to preserve the fish. Other times they were pickled. The pickled fish of Galilee were known throughout the Roman and Greek world. Large quantities were taken up to Jerusalem at the season of the yearly feasts, because of the great multitudes of people. Barrels were also transported around the Mediterranean. Because it was a port on the Sea of Galilee, it was a center of trade and commerce, and an exporter of salted fish to markets as far away as Europe.
Magdala was also a place for shipbuilding. There were many people who were artists at building ships.
People of that era were very wealthy because they were hard workers and had commodities that were in high demand.
Magdala had some baths with hot water from an underground hot spring. Those baths were used for purification. It was called living water rather than rainwater.
Magdala had a very ornate Synagogue. It was decorated with brightly colored frescoes. It was evident that the people were wealthy.
The women had for their use perfume jars, jewelry, hairbrushes and combs and bronze applicators of make-up.

Thomas, I think my time has come. Please, go and get Barbara. She is a very competent mid-wife. She has been here for all of our babies births. Please hurry.
Are you sure it is time?
Of course. This is baby number four. I am accustomed to knowing the signs
, Margaret stated. She was getting a little bit aggravated. She knew what it felt like to go into labor.
Boys, go over to grandmother’s house. Plan on staying for a couple of days
, their mother commanded. They were good boys. They would not be any trouble for Thomas’ mother. Margaret loved her mother-in-law and knew the boys would be well taken care of.
It seemed like Thomas was gone a long time. Margaret’s contractions were getting stronger. This baby is in a hurry.
Finally, Barbara walked into the house with all of the necessary items for the big event.
She had a big smile on her face, Well, Margaret, are you going to have another boy?
Margaret frowned, Probably. That seems to be all I can make.
But they are handsome boys and Thomas can teach them the fishing business, especially preservation. There is a high demand for that
, Barbara said.
Ooh, the pain is getting worse. He better be born soon. He seems to be taking his time
, Margaret admitted.
"Here,
