About the Author
How About Monday?
On Sunday night, we said our prayers
Knowing tomorrow was another day
And I will never forget that evening
When I heard my youngest say:
"How about Monday, Mommy?"
Which came as a surprise
Why is it you are asking . . .
Then she looked me in the eyes.
"We all say prayers on Sunday
Because that’s a day for God
Why don’t we pray on Monday . . .
Don’t you think it’s rather odd?"
I will admit that I did ponder
For an answer that seemed right
When someone asked for "Tuesday"
I responded with sheer delight.
"On Wednesday, some folks go to church
During the evenings for most part
Just accepting Jesus Christ, I’d say
Is the best place I would start.
Traditionally, there are some days
When a task is followed through
But, when we are talking about Jesus
There’s a lot that one can do.
Thursday is a special day
For some folks who believe
They may have pain or sorrow that
They are asking Jesus to relieve.
Or, they may be asking for forgiveness
For a mistake that they have made
Jesus listens with patience
To those joining His crusade.
Giving prayers on Friday . . .
There’s an idea that is great!
Friday is a day to realize
What God has put upon our plate.
Saturday might just be the day
When another soul is saved
Or one may pay benevolence
If he or she has misbehaved.
So, in answer to your question:
Yes
Monday is a good day
Every day is Holy and it’s
Always good to pray.
One is always finding blessings
Where ever they may go
When you receive a blessing
It is good to let Him know.

For Miles
For miles I’ve traveled on broken sod
For a chance to visit my one true God.
For years I’ve waited for an answer true
To discover what Jesus, our Lord, can do.
So many miracles have happened that we know . . .
We know because the Bible says so.
And so many sinners have come to repent
Eager to challenge the time they’ve spent.
I wonder why we spend our days
Finding our Savior in other ways
In chasing profits, though they be slim
Or in breaking rules in spite of Him.
In building towers that climb so high
To envision Jesus before we say Good-bye
And there are those who worship wealth
But won’t help the needy in spite of one’s self.
For miles, I’ve walked this country for
Chances of gaining more and more
I’ve stepped on toes, I’ve made them cry
I do not know the reason why.
Until I found Jesus, and learned of God
Then followed Him, local and abroad.
I’ve helped the hungry and forlorn
By mending spirits that were withered and torn
You will probably see me here or there
I want to tell you that I care.
Please follow me to that Heavenly shore
Where pain and suffering will be no more.
And, while I travel, please say a prayer
For all the sinners who live out there.
Ask God above to make them whole
And prevent the turmoil we see below.

Tough Decisions
We were going to rob a bank
Our decision was clearly made
One of us would drive a car
While the others would make the trade
One would pull around the side
While the rest would make the heist
Until someone said those words to us:
"Are you thinking about Jesus Christ?"
That statement stopped us in our tracks
One might say: We weren’t prepared
A special hesitancy crossed our minds . . .
We became apprehensive and scared.
For, we knew Jesus died for our sins
He hung mercilessly from the cross
And here we were, all sinners
Knowing redemption would suffer a loss.
We wonder about the times we’re in
Miracles seem to pass us by
Many do not get enough to eat
And the children are asking why?
For they hear of crime out in the street
And are influenced by stories they hear
For them, there are tough decisions . . .
We can assure them that "Jesus is near."
As Christians, we must ban together
In our churches and in our prayers
Heaven is a place for everyone . . .
Not just for ours or theirs
Perhaps a step-back
is what we need
Asking
