#1 I had a dream in which I saw a man with his face turned away from his own house, reading a book and crying out, What shall I do. I went to see him, and found him in a terrible situation. He was married with children, and the city was about to be burned down.

#2 In a dream, I saw a man with his face turned away from his own house, reading a book and crying out, What should I do. I went to see him, and found him in a terrible situation. He was married with children, and the city was about to be burned down. He answered, Because I am not willing to die, and after that to come before judgment, I find that I am not willing to do the first nor the second. Then said Evangelist, Why are you not willing to die since this life is so troubled with so many evils. The man answered, Because I fear that this burden that is on my back will sink me lower than the grave, and I will fall into Tophet.

#3 A man dreamed of a man reading a book and crying out, What should I do. A neighbor saw this, and asked the man if he was willing to die and go to hell. The man answered that he was not willing to die. The neighbors then threatened him, but he persisted in his decision. -> In a dream, I saw a man with his face turned away from his own house, reading a book and crying out, What should I do. #1

I walked through the wilderness of this world, and I came to a certain place where was a den. I slept there, and in my sleep I dreamed a dream. I saw a man clothed with rags standing in a certain place with his face from his own house, a book in his hand, and a great burden on his back.

    #2

The man was told to flee from the wrath to come. He was not willing to die, and was not able to flee from it. He was then given a roll of parchment with the words Flee from the wrath to come written on it. He began to run, but his wife and children cried after him to return.

    #3

The man was eventually caught and brought back to the city. When he was told that all he was leaving behind was not worth living, he replied that the things he was seeking were better than anything else in the world.

    #4

There is an endless kingdom to be enjoyed, and everlasting life to be given to us. We will receive crowns of glory, garments that will make us shine like the sun in the sky, and no more crying or sorrow.

    #5

The Slough of Despond is a slough that is located in the middle of a plain. It is the place where the scum and filth that come with the feeling of sin gather. It cannot be mended because it is the hollow where the scum and filth that come with the feeling of sin run.

    #6

There are, according to the Lawgiver, certain good and substantial steps placed even through the midst of this slough. But at such times as this, the ground is especially filthy.

    #7

Christian, a man burdened with a heavy burden, was advised by Mr. Worldly Wiseman to get rid of it. But he refused, saying that he could not get rid of it himself, and that there was no one in his country who could take it off his shoulders.

    #8

Christian was advised to go to a village named Morality, where he would find a wise man named Legality who could help him get rid of his burden. He was also told that instead of running the risks inherent in the method, he would encounter much safety, friendship, and contentment.

    #9

Christian was afraid of the hill, and was turned away from it. He met a man who told him that he could get rid of his burden in the village before him. But when he saw the hill, he
